Dr. Lashonda , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I have built my resilience through a combination of personal trials, tribulations, and the wisdom gained from trusting the vision that God gave me, even when others couldn’t see or understand it. My ability to bounce back after life’s challenges, to cultivate the vision God entrusted to me, and to grow through adversities has strengthened my resilience. I’Ve endured physical, mental, and emotional struggles, such as those from the car accident and personal experiences with forgiveness , betrayal and self-reflection. All of this, combined with God’s healing and guidance, has shaped my resilience into what it is today.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As an award-winning accredited life coach and instructor, award-winning author, and business consultant, my journey has been deeply rooted in empowerment and transformation. Through my businesses, I focus on helping individuals, particularly women, recover from life’s setbacks and rediscover their inner strength. I run the All Bets On Me Academy, where I offer accredited courses in various life coaching sectors, empowering others to become certified and build meaningful careers. One of the most exciting aspects of my work is witnessing the personal growth and breakthroughs in my clients and students. Seeing them embrace their purpose, gain clarity, and thrive is what drives me every day.

In addition to life coaching, I’m a nine-time international bestselling author, and much of my writing centers around breaking generational chains and overcoming adversity. My latest books, Breaking The Chains: Liberating Your Lineage from Generational Curses and Girl, Let That Go Vol 1, explore powerful personal experiences, particularly around forgiveness and resilience. I believe storytelling is a profound way to inspire change, and I’m grateful to share my journey with others through my writing.

Currently, I’m focused on several exciting projects. This October, we’re hosting the first annual EmpowerHer Live Conference, a three-day event designed to equip business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools they need to thrive. We have nine incredible speakers lined up to share their wisdom and experiences. I’m also expanding my work with nonprofits like Bridging the Gap Community Services, where we provide hands-on support for community members in need, and I’m proud to be the Keynote Speaker this year at the Royal Crystal Ball , which organizes impactful fundraising events like Collab 2 Impact.

On the horizon, I’m launching new service-based programs and courses through my consulting firm, L&S Consulting Group, which helps new business owners in the home care sector. My mission is to guide others in building successful, sustainable businesses that not only generate income but create lasting impact in their communities.

Everything I do, from coaching to writing and business consulting, is anchored in a desire to uplift others and help them step into their God-given assignments with confidence. I’m passionate about creating spaces where people feel supported, empowered, and equipped to live their best lives—personally and professionally.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities that were most impactful were resilience, vision, and a deep commitment to personal growth.

1. Resilience: Life is full of unexpected challenges, and one of the most important skills I’ve developed is the ability to bounce back after adversity. From personal setbacks to business struggles, I’ve learned that resilience isn’t just about surviving but thriving in the face of hardship. My advice to those early in their journey is to embrace every challenge as an opportunity for growth. Understand that setbacks don’t define you—they refine you. Develop a mindset that sees failure as a learning tool, and never be afraid to start again.

2. Vision: Having a clear vision of what I wanted to achieve, even when no one else could see it, was crucial. Vision is what guides you when the road ahead seems unclear. My journey has taught me that your vision may not always be understood by others, but it’s your responsibility to cultivate and bring it to life. My advice is to trust the vision you’ve been given and protect it fiercely. Surround yourself with people who support it, but remember that the ultimate belief must come from within you.

3. Commitment to Personal Growth: I have always believed that you can’t pour from an empty cup. Committing to my own personal development, through education, coaching, and self-reflection, has been a cornerstone of my success. For those starting out, prioritize your personal growth just as much as your professional ambitions. Whether it’s through mentorship, coaching, or consistent learning, invest in becoming the best version of yourself. The more you grow internally, the more capable you’ll be of handling the demands and challenges of your journey.

In summary, to develop these skills: stay resilient by seeing obstacles as opportunities, nurture your vision and trust the process, and continuously invest in your personal growth. This combination will help you not only succeed but thrive as you pursue your purpose.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been learning to embrace vulnerability and fully stepping into my purpose with confidence. As a life coach, author, and business consultant, I’ve always been in a position of helping others, but I realized that I had to allow myself to be vulnerable in new ways—sharing my personal experiences and struggles more openly. This was particularly evident in writing and launching my new books, BecomingHer, Breaking The Chains and Girl, Let That Go Vol 1, where I discussed deeply personal stories of forgiveness, loss, and resilience.

Through this process, I’ve grown in my ability to connect with others on a deeper level, recognizing that my authenticity and transparency are what empower others to face their own challenges. Professionally, I’ve also improved in creating more structured systems within my businesses, allowing for growth and expansion while maintaining balance. Learning to delegate, trust my team, and focus on my core strengths has been another key area of improvement.

This growth in vulnerability and business leadership has empowered me to step even further into my purpose, helping others navigate their own paths with authenticity and courage.
