Meet Jerm V. (dweeb Kil.)

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jerm V. (dweeb Kil.). We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Jerm V., thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Ha, nice question! I’ve totally drawn up a distinct category of artistry for myself; ahead of anyone else’s say so : ) I began my own journey as both a virtual artist + a creative leading performance as a collectible item & apparel loving display table! I operate this evolving creative fashion & streetwear collection called “Dweeb Kil.” (@dweebkil): Where local social gatherings are my chance to etch creative presence & expression into these surroundings that accommodate creative folks with bigger aspirations – It’s super enlightening + crowds of potential people actually help & support what I can direct (as a stylized outfit, passion driven in ensemble or performance). Against all others, I think I could bridge (or connect to) devoting myself to art or alleviation these ongoing craft maker meetings curate: Spatially, hospitality-wise, or lucratively by commerce & traveling folks striking gold amongst the marketspaces! My intention is to carve my outfit’s name into history, social networks aplenty, + collaborative channels of distinct interest (entertainment media, local opportunities found, cool live events, etc.). You do drive a certain path for yourself, so that looking back on this life you could gather here, you’ll recognize a unique pathway that no one else could conjure up. Naturally devoted, naturally, like no one else in the room – Literally! >: )

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Throughout the East Coast/along the shores of the North Atlantic Ocean, I’ve tailored a pretty sweet movement of my own – for the huge population of “beachy/city folks” I interact with (miles away, along the East Coast)! In local spots across Georgia, Florida, & North Carolina – This endeavor (as of 2024) is made to house my artwork/illustrations, streetwear I can screen print (or) dress in, & this catalog of escalating prizes & revolving collectibles I sell at sweet vending markets : ) People stop by far and wide: From Gainesville (FL) or Ponte Vedra’s beaches, catching a fresh glimpse of new art installments, or rad installations hosted by bars, venues, or accommodating studios that throw worthwhile bashes with success! It’s a special chance for something… extraordinary for people, these days, it seems. Which is why I love these kinds of events – You’ll never know what special people or moments you’ll align with. Trust me, I’ve had many astronomically significant encounters with people who I genuinely believe were out of this world – And I never forgot the love I shared :’ )

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One quality that became most impactful on this creative journey could surround my true ambition! I totally “make the effort” as an artist. I know + love what I do, while finding ways to build livelihood with what I do. When making art, I want to make great strides! I never fall to the hype of being a “creator/influencer”. Instead, I’m trying to skyrocket my resolve, which gives a brighter vision to what I could do as an artist (v.s.) what I could do ineffectively or based on a direction from “outside artwork” I didn’t organically think of. One skill that became most impactful would be my own scheduling. I draw better attention to events/local opportunities that align well with my style! The better I can pace my stride as an art wielding curator, the more inclined I am to succeed & position my motives. Lastly, one area of knowledge I know has impacted my journey blends philosophical expression with a psychological approach to being. This stems from my need to gather insights from differing anthologies or poetry-bound writers; coupled with the teachings & understanding present in how people gauge human behavior within themselves and between one another devoutly. It helps to map my mind’s directional path while following my heart & creative spirit!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I roam this Earth (2024+) to bridge a special alignment or connection with my devotion to tact & artistry. This usually pairs me with various vendors, artisans, craft makers, creative minds, fashion designers, clothing brands, and a catalog of notable projects to be next to. I try to envision & breach awareness for who I am & what I do without needing to have a display table setup outright, too. I always set out to gain interactivity that makes sense; with a band of folks that have pure willingness attached! A true interaction that stems from genuine interest in a branded concert t-shirt I’ve created, or a new collaborative sticker that I’ve illustrated onto with a friend, serves the public at large in my eye. It shows that (past partnerships & collaborators) there’s an extension of myself able to breathe new life into an atmosphere I represent or could inhabit. The creative performance I adapt is both physical and digital – Whether chatting to make a new sale face-to-face, or furthering brand loyalty for online savvy clientele, I am looking to connect with a school of thought that is original, viable, and evolves alongside my styling & gravitational pull of excellence!
