Meet Lena Jones

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lena Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Lena, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I didn’t know it but compared to my peers I grew up kinda tough. We always had enough money but not a lot. More importantly we were made to be resourceful. Sometimes when I’m working a long day and seeing others struggling I know I have to be the one to lift them up. I just got tough early, and I know how to see my way through the long days.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

What I do is nothing special, I produce sports and Community events. However, my greatest asset is that I stay creative in every part of my life. How can we do it differently, partner better, make people more excited, get more out of the experience?
Before I started my business in 2022 I always hustled hard to build relationships and give back to the community. Because of those relationships I have been able to pick and choose what I want to be involved in. Staying authentic and inspired by the projects on my plate, or they don’t make it on the calendar.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Make mentors— find people to ask advice of

Follow your little voice — if something feels off to you don’t say yes to the job

Go the extra mile— get to know everyone you can and be helpful where you can be. Sometimes community work or friendships that form lead you to the next project.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

I have learned to delegate better! I made this year my work less make more money year. Sometimes it sounds cliche but setting goals that are clear and attainable. That helped me finish with the exact result I wanted for my last event and huge growth from the year before. I have two little kids and I don’t have time so I have to get better in these areas. My hope is that it only strengthens my leadership and finances.
