We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Heather Lamb, Rn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Heather, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My purpose was to take the risk on an innovative and unique medical service and open it to the public at a reasonable cost. I pioneered and opened the first medical grade hyperbaric oxygen therapy facility, to the public in the DMV area… I am nurse, I practiced wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for several years. I seen that their was a hyperbaric need for off-label conditions. Many members of the general public were getting turned away from medical facilities because their condition was not approved by the FDA for use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This is due to the lack of scientific studies. During my career experience, I seen the positive effects of hyperbarics and wanted to share those experiences with others. I have been open for a year, August 2023, and have witnessed hundreds of wellness success stories.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am focused on pioneering medical grade hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the Maryland, DC and Virginia area. At my spa I am able to offer innovative alternative and integrative care to help others meet their wellness goals. BluZone was awarded Anne Arundel County’s emerging business of the year 2024. In the process of expanding services by adding another medical grade hyperbaric chamber to keep up with demand. BluZone is also looking into expanding store fronts in DC and North Baltimore County.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Tenacity, risk taking, and confidence. IF you truly believe you can provide a service that will help others and you are confident, others will support you. Be a sponge and learn from others that are smarter than you.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My main skill is nursing, most of my life experience is in the medical field, it was a culture shock to go from nursing to entrepreneur. With much support and surrounding myself with mentors I went from RN to entrepreneur this past year. With much coaching and support my company was named the Emerging Business of the Year in Anne Arundel County, Collaborating and being open minded has made my business successful.
