Meet Wrendly Mesidor

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Wrendly Mesidor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Wrendly, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
To start, My father Domage Mesidor who was a Haitian professor was an outgoing human being, and communicating with everybody was a contributing factor.

As a young kid, I watched my father travel to different types of events, and being around many different professionals.
So, I aspired to be the same example and see everyone as friends.
That’s how I build confidence and self-esteem.

I love humanity so much that I decided to get involved in my community.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There are many important skills that are necessary for developing businesses and communities, but here are three that stand out:

1. Communication: Effective communication is essential for building strong relationships with customers, employees, and community members. Communication skills include active listening, speaking clearly and persuasively, and being able to convey complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand. Good communication can help you build trust, resolve conflicts, and create a positive reputation for yourself and your business.

2. Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinking involves analyzing information and making decisions based on long-term goals rather than short-term gains. It involves being able to anticipate future trends and challenges, and developing plans that will help your business or community adapt and thrive. Strategic thinking can help you identify opportunities for growth, anticipate potential obstacles, and make informed decisions that will benefit your business or community in the long run.

3. Collaboration: Collaboration involves working effectively with others to achieve a common goal. This skill is important for building strong partnerships, engaging with stakeholders, and creating a sense of community around your business. Collaboration requires good communication skills, the ability to listen and compromise, and a willingness to work towards shared goals. By collaborating with others, you can tap into a wider range of skills and resources, and achieve results that would be difficult to accomplish on your own.

If you are interested in getting involved in business and community development, here are some tips to help you get started:

1. Develop your skills: Take courses or workshops that can help you build the skills you need to succeed in business and community development. Look for opportunities to improve your communication, strategic thinking, and collaboration skills.

2. Volunteer: Volunteering is a great way to get involved in your community and gain experience in business and community development. Look for opportunities to volunteer with local organizations and non-profits that are working to improve your community.

3. Network: Attend events and meetings where you can meet other business and community leaders. This can help you build relationships, learn about new opportunities, and gain valuable insights into the needs and challenges facing your community.

4. Stay informed: Keep up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in your industry and community. Read industry publications, attend conferences and workshops, and stay engaged with local news and events.

By developing these skills and getting involved in your community, you can make a positive impact and help build a stronger, more vibrant business and community ecosystem.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
Feeling overwhelmed can be a common experience, particularly when you have a lot on your plate or are facing a difficult situation. Here is an example of what you can do when feeling overwhelmed:

1. Take a break: When you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to take a step back and give yourself a break. Take a few deep breaths, go for a walk, or do something that helps you relax and clear your mind.

2. Prioritize: Once you’ve taken a break and are feeling a bit calmer, it’s time to prioritize your tasks. Make a list of everything you need to do and then rank them in order of importance. Focus on the most important tasks first, and then move on to the less important ones.

3. Ask for help: Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Reach out to a coworker, friend, or family member for support or assistance. Sometimes just talking to someone can help you feel better and more focused.

4. Break it down: If a task or project feels too big to handle, try breaking it down into smaller, more manageable pieces. This can help you feel less overwhelmed and more in control.

5. Practice self-care: Taking care of yourself is important when you’re feeling overwhelmed. Make sure you’re getting enough rest, eating well, and taking care of your physical and emotional health. Taking care of yourself will help you feel more resilient and better able to handle stress.

Remember, feeling overwhelmed is a normal experience, and it’s important to take steps to manage your stress and take care of yourself. By following these tips, you can reduce your feelings of overwhelm and feel more in control of your tasks and responsibilities.
