We were lucky to catch up with Walil Archer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Walil, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome wasn’t easy, but it’s been a major part of my journey. When I first transitioned into full-time entrepreneurship back in 2000, there were moments when I questioned whether I belonged in the spaces I was entering. But I learned that doubt is part of the process. The key for me was staying focused on my growth, recognizing my value, and remembering that my path is unique.
I embraced every experience—good and bad—and used it as fuel to keep moving forward. Each success reminded me that I was capable, and each setback became a lesson that made me stronger. As I grew in business and real estate, I realized it wasn’t just about me anymore. Mentoring others and sharing what I’ve learned showed me that I’m more than deserving of my success. Overcoming imposter syndrome was about owning my story, trusting my process, and continuing to evolve. That’s how I keep pushing forward.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, but I’ve made Atlanta my home. My entrepreneurial journey started back in 1996, working part-time while hustling to build something bigger. By July 2000, I made the jump to full-time entrepreneurship, and since then, I’ve built a diverse career across multiple industries. From owning businesses to diving into real estate and entertainment, I’ve always believed in creating my opportunities.
Real estate has been a big part of my success. I’ve been able to invest, develop, and help revitalize communities in Atlanta, all while teaching others how to build their wealth through property ownership. It’s about more than just flipping houses or making money—it’s about giving back and helping others find a path to financial freedom.
In 2012, I took a new step in my career by getting into radio. I saw it as a way to connect with a wider audience and share stories, experiences, and conversations that mattered. Starting in radio allowed me to bring my voice to the community in a different way, giving a platform to underrepresented voices and topics that needed more attention.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing countless celebrities and being on red carpets for major events. Whether it’s talking with actors, musicians, or influencers, each interview gives me a chance to connect with some of the biggest names in the industry and get their perspective on their craft, life, and success.
Being on red carpets is always an exciting experience—it’s fast-paced, full of energy, and a great opportunity to engage with people who are shaping culture and entertainment. Every conversation is different, but I always try to bring something real and relatable to the table, asking questions that go beyond the surface. It’s about capturing the moment and sharing stories that resonate with the audience.
Being on air sharpened my communication skills and gave me a new appreciation for storytelling. It wasn’t just about playing music or talking—it was about creating an experience for listeners, engaging with them, and opening up conversations that resonated. Radio became another avenue for me to inspire, inform, and uplift people, and it’s been a fulfilling part of my journey ever since.
In 2019, I also took a new leap and embraced acting. Stepping into the creative space allowed me to explore a different side of myself, and it’s been an exciting journey. Balancing multiple ventures while staying grounded in what’s important to me—family, community, and growth—has been the core of my journey.
Through the ups and downs, I’ve stayed committed to evolving, learning, and lifting up others along the way. Whether it’s through mentorship or leading by example, my goal has always been to leave an impact and inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter where they start.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe the three most important qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that have shaped my journey are:
Resilience and Adaptability
The road to success is never a straight line. I’ve faced challenges, setbacks, and obstacles, but resilience has kept me moving forward. Being adaptable, especially in industries that are always changing like real estate, entertainment, and media, has allowed me to stay ahead and adjust when necessary. Whether it’s pivoting in business or exploring new opportunities like acting or radio, I’ve learned that growth happens when you embrace change and push through tough times.
Entrepreneurial Mindset
Having an entrepreneurial mindset has been key to everything I’ve achieved. It’s not just about starting businesses—it’s about seeing opportunities where others might not and being willing to take risks to make things happen. Whether in real estate, media, or other ventures, this mindset has allowed me to be innovative, strategic, and persistent. I believe in constantly learning, staying curious, and seeking out new ways to expand my knowledge and skills.
Communication and Connection
Whether I’m interviewing a celebrity on the red carpet, mentoring someone in real estate, or engaging with my audience on the radio, communication is at the heart of what I do. Being able to connect with people on a deeper level—by listening, understanding, and responding thoughtfully—has been crucial. It’s not just about talking, but about creating meaningful exchanges and building relationships that last. Having the ability to tell stories, ask the right questions, and engage authentically has opened many doors for me in both business and personal growth.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
As I continue to grow in my entrepreneurial and creative ventures, I’m always looking for new opportunities to partner and collaborate with like-minded individuals. Whether it’s in real estate, media, entertainment, or something entirely new, I believe that success is amplified when people come together with a shared vision. I’m open to working with those who are passionate, driven, and focused on making an impact.
I’m particularly interested in collaborating with individuals who bring fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and a willingness to push boundaries. I’m open to exploring ways we can align our goals. I believe in building partnerships based on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Over the years, I’ve learned that the best collaborations come from people who are not just focused on success, but also on contributing to something meaningful—whether it’s uplifting communities, creating positive change, or breaking new ground in their industry. If you’re passionate about growth, making an impact, and working towards something bigger than yourself, I’m ready to collaborate and make that vision a reality.
Let’s connect and see how we can bring our ideas to life, combining our strengths and resources to create lasting success!
