Meet Kailey Hood

We were lucky to catch up with Kailey Hood recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kailey, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.

I keep my creativity alive by regularly seeking new sources of inspiration and challenging myself to think in different ways. This includes reading diverse materials, exploring various creative fields like art, music, or writing, and engaging with different perspectives and cultures. I also set aside time for unstructured thinking and brainstorming, which allows me to generate ideas freely. Practicing mindfulness and staying curious about the world helps me find fresh angles and approaches to my work.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I host “Kalling Plays with Kailey”, a sports interview series where I sit down with young athletes and explore their journeys, challenges, and triumphs. The show, which airs every Friday at 7:30 PM, offers a unique space for athletes to share their stories in an engaging and conversational style. What I find most exciting about it is the opportunity to showcase the talent and determination of these rising stars, often shedding light on personal aspects of their lives that audiences may not be familiar with.

What sets “Kalling Plays with Kailey” apart is its focus on authentic storytelling. We create an environment where athletes can express their individuality beyond their athletic achievements, making each episode not just informative, but also inspiring. This approach has really resonated with our audience, and I’m proud to see the show celebrating its 4th anniversary recently.

Looking ahead, we’re planning some exciting new elements for the show, including expanded coverage into other areas of sports culture and events. Our goal is to continue evolving and connecting with our audience in fresh, engaging ways.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on my journey with “Kalling Plays with Kailey”, three qualities that stand out as most impactful are adaptability, communication skills, and passion for storytelling.

My advice for those early in their journey is to embrace learning, be patient with your growth, and don’t be afraid to take risks. Developing these skills takes time, but the rewards of mastering them are well worth the effort.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my mom did for me was instill a strong sense of confidence and independence from an early age. My mom encouraged me to pursue my passions and take ownership of my choices, while providing a safe space to fail, learn, and grow. Their support allowed me to develop resilience and the ability to trust my instincts, which has been invaluable in navigating challenges and seizing opportunities throughout my journey, especially with” Kalling Plays with Kailey”. My mothers belief in me helped shape my mindset, fueling both my ambition and creative drive.
