Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Wellington Marinho. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Wellington , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Well, I have to say thanks to my Therapy. If I have any advice to share that would be it. Is not every day that a normal human being wakes up and feel confident. To be confident comes with daily basis of paying attention to yourself, doing what you love to do and good feedback from the others. If you’re feeling great with yourself, the other is gonna fell the same. I was a very shy kid when I was young, was never easy to comfortable with quiet way to be, but I’ve learned how to work on that. Self-esteem is about to recognize. Recognize that sometimes you can fail and that’s totally ok…it’s like rain and sun, light and darkness…how to appreciate one if you don’t embrace the other. It’s the same with yourself, embrace who you are, don’t believe in social medias, people out there is doing Therapy too, see? No one wakes up everyday feeling super , what can be more normal than this?
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am an architect and I couldn’t think being anything else. However, my business is with interior design which doesn’t require me to be an architect, but this little tile make all the difference about my skills and how to bring to life my conceptions and desire of a happy client. Recently, I was invited to be on “ICFF + WantedDesign” in New York city. A selected international design fair, exclusively for professional of architecture and design. Which made me explore new connections, get to know Europeans brands and products and must important, be aware about what is going on internationally and that what make my way of work different, everybody is different , we all know that. But open mind you are for new things, I’ve always being curious how to express my ideas to different cultures and that’s what I like the must.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My advice is keep going, be curious, forget about your ego, you don’t that much. You will be great because you are and because you want to be. We’re facing a new generation of design, tools and possibilities. We’re facing AI’s now and do a great job, of course it can…but nothing is gonna break a truly human connection to design a house looking at the eyes of the client and knowing exactly what they want. Another thing: Be nice with yourself, be patient…learn from mistakes, but keep in mind that mistakes doesn’t define you or your work. it’s just part of the journey. One day you going to tell yourself : I got it! in that moment be thankful for your mistakes and fails, they got you there.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I’m from the 80’s era. Back then let say the time used to be a little slow than nowadays. If I feel overwhelmed ? Every single day. It’s just too much. Too much news, fake news, social media, medias, podcasts, video casts, apps to dance, apps to date, to run, to rest, to sleep, to wake up… did you notice a pattern here? everybody is telling us what to do…but what do you really want?! when I feel overwhelmed, I stop, literally, I just stop. I go make a tea, I go see my plants, I go paly with my dogs, I go sketching my plants, I lay down on the floor, I breath…I just stop and do what make you at least a little happy for a moment.
