We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cynnie Jane a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cynnie , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Honing my craft over time has been one of the most empowering parts of building
my confidence. There’s something incredibly satisfying about perfecting a melody, reaching
a new level of vocal prowess, or writing lyrics that truly resonate. Every hour I’ve spent
refining my music, rehearsing, writing, collaborating, and learning has been instrumental to
my sense of accomplishment and self-confidence.
As I became more skilled in my craft, I also became more comfortable in my skin as
an artist. The journey of improvement is a constant reminder that with dedication,
consistency, and passion, I can achieve whatever goals I set for myself. It’s a powerful
feeling knowing that the work I put in directly contributes to my growth and ability to share
my voice with the world. That sense of ownership over my talent and the progress I’ve made
gives me a deep sense of self-confidence.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a pop-rock artist and singer-songwriter with a deep passion for creating music
that listeners can really connect with. I’m a firm believer in the transmutation of pain to
power, and this philosophy is at the heart of my music. Each song is a reflection of turning
personal struggles into a source of strength and empowerment. I pour my own experiences
into my songs, aiming to turn them into something that uplifts my audience.
What I find most exciting about my music is its ability to resonate on a personal level
and inspire others. Music is incredibly powerful, and I hope my songs can help others find
their own strength and confidence.
My music is available on all streaming platforms, and I’m working on upcoming releases and performances, so keep an eye out for updates!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d say resilience, perseverance, and dedication are the most important qualities to
develop. Resilience is essential in life, and even more so in the music industry. You’re likely
to hear far more “no’s” than “yes’s”, especially at the start of your career. It’s important to
learn how to roll with the punches, keep pushing forward, and continually level up.
Perseverance is crucial for pushing through challenges and continuing to strive toward your
goals despite the obstacles you’re going to face. And dedication ensures that you stay
committed to your craft and put in the consistent effort needed to see results.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I’d recommend going all in on perfecting your craft and focusing on your strengths.
These are what make you unique and valuable in your industry. By zeroing in on your
specific talents, you can truly excel and set yourself apart. While being well-rounded is
important, spreading yourself too thin can mean you become a generalist rather than an
expert. As the saying goes, “a jack of all trades is the master of none.” Investing deeply in
your strengths allows you to master your craft and create a distinctive impact.
