We recently connected with Sharonda Purnell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharonda, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
You overcome imposter syndrome by understanding that no one will ever master being a human on a floating rotating rock suspended by the juice of the universe, or ever know all there is to know about everything there is to know. That in a way, we are all imposters, figuring things out. No one really knows a thing. And thats the scary, yet exhilarating part of being a human.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m most excited about uprooting trauma from black bodies. I am a black body worker and somatic practitioner focusing on uprooting trauma in black bodies. I was raised by my grandmother. educated in her arms and kitchen. I grew up watching her lay hands so in that sense, my work is generational.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning energy work changed my life. That we are all operating in our own field, and can interact with each others field, realizing that I was valid. alone. all by myself. with nothing but lives education. that what my granny taught me, and other things were valid education. I had to go through to get through. There was no shortcut to healing. Radical acceptance of self, and exactly where you are is the best first step. And being grateful for all it took to you.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Unhermitting and allowing. I am getting so many request to “be outside’ and do events and while i do them, doing so is way out of my comfort xzone. So stepping out of my comfort zone to new areas and new opportunities displaying my fullness and all i have to offer in its entirety
