We recently connected with Neven Odeh and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Neven with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my work ethic from my parents. They watched how hard they worked and by the age of 13 they needed help and I was able to help run my dads store. Every day after school I’d help him with deliveries, or inventory, cleaning up, etc.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Neven Odeh; and to put it simply I help people every day buy things at a fraction of the price. If its food, everyday essentials, apparel, I help find deals or coupon codes to lower their out-of-pocket costs. I grew up watching my mom coupon and save whenever she could. In high school I was a part of Key club which was a volunteer organization, and we would raise money for causes, try to get things as cheap as possible when needed, and once I got married, I was determined to not stress my husband financially. He never complained if I spent, but I always swore if I could save on everyday things than I would. I’ve seen many unfortunate cases and promised myself I would do what I can to prevent anything bad financially happen to my family. Once I started my Instagram page I got to do what I love, which was help others and save. It wasn’t until a few years later until I made it my full time job.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three skills that helped me on my journey are honesty. I always answered questions from who I am to the deals I post. I choose not to post scam deals which in time my followers appreciated that I’m not choosing money over the quality of deals. Kindness has helped me a lot as well. As cliche as it was and sometimes if I’m being honest, was very hard to be kind when others are bashing you. But I’ve seen a way better outcome with responding with kindness. And sometimes kindness can spread. Being grateful and humble is the best skill I know. At the end of the day, I would not be where I am without the support of my followers. I am very thankful and highly believe a follower count or money should ever change who you are. I’ve become the best i can be thanks to my amazing community. If you’re just starting out do not give up. It may seem hopeless at first, but i promise you your time to shine will come and that I’m always just a message away if you need help.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
One thing I want to stress is how important our mental health is. Being a content creator is not easy some days and if it comes to be too much, I highly recommend you take a break. Your account will still be there for you I promise. I do feel a bit of a hypocrite because I have honestly not taken a break in 5 years now. But i personally love it. When it gets too much, I just let my followers know through my stories that I’m taking a break from DM’s. This way deals are still coming through and I don’t feel too overwhelmed.
