Meet Victoria Seabrooks

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Victoria Seabrooks. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Victoria, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?

For me, whether it involves personal or professional ambitions like modeling, acting or Model Insider, self discipline comes from figuring out what the purpose is for what I want. After that I write down the steps to achieve the goal so it’s more digestible! It’s like creating a roadmap that’s easy to follow since the smaller steps make it more realistic. I don’t get overwhelmed then start to procrastinate which results in no progress at all! Also surrounding myself with likeminded people or others with more experience than myself helps me stay on course since they’re my accountability partners. When I don’t stay disciplined I’ll feel some sort of conviction. Knowing whatever I’m doing can help someone else motivates me to stay on top of my stuff more!

Overall
1. Figuring out the goal and why
2. Writing out details to obtain that goal so it’s more realistic helps provide clarity
3. Surrounding myself with likeminded people for accountability
4. Finding people with more experience for my goal so I have better direction
5. Knowing it’s not about me but the goal God placed in my heart

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I moved around a lot growing up due to my family being in the military. Most of my childhood was spent in a town called Mexico,NY located Upstate. Most of my young adult life was spent in San Antonio, TX which is where I got into modeling. I started working with a local modeling agency called Lari Nelson Fashion Group then eventually got scouted by one of the top TX agencies out of Dallas called Kim Dawson! After I attended an Expo in Dallas, I decided to sign with KD! Once they represented me I began working and after several months I told them I wanted to try out NYC!

I signed with New York Model Management and from there LA models, LA Talent and CESD picked me up too! Since then I’ve been blessed to work with great clients like Nike, Estée Lauder, CoverGirl, Kohls, Lincoln, Macys, JCP, Fossil, R&Co, Sketchers, Spanx, Sketchers, Cannondale, a few Alcohol companies, Airlines, and booked my first show on Law & Order!

With all the models I’ve met, personal experiences I’ve gone through and hearing the amount of false information being given, I felt driven to start my organization called Model Insider HQ! The main purpose is to help models maximize their potential by providing community, tools and credible resources regardless of where they are in their careers!
We just threw our first big event in the beginning of September with Dog Pound and STK Restaurant which received more support than I could’ve imagined! The models had a great workout, ate delicious food to stay fueled, made new friends and left with items in their gift bags from amazing sponsors to help them get through Fashion Week!
After that we hosted a Pilates event with one of my favorite studios in the city, BodyRok! The models were able to connect, some tryout a new workout and leave with gift bags designed to help us succeed as well!
Right now the next project will be working with the Dallas Model/Talent Expo out of Texas where I speak at the Modeling 101 and runway seminar workshops! We’ll be introducing the mentorship program so there’s proper guidance to help those seeking additional support in their careers! We’re also curating a few more events before the end of the year as well but for all updates check out the Model Insider HQ Ig page!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Proactive
2. Networking/emotional intelligence
3. Being genuine/optimistic

Advice for folks early in their careers to obtain these qualities:

Check the credentials of the people you’re getting advice from. Be mindful that this job requires team effort!
When you assess what’s in your control, take action along with bringing good energy to those around you. It’ll be even easier and more enjoyable when it comes to getting the most out of an experience! It makes others want to connect/rebook you more also. Reflecting, then applying what you’ve learned from a past situation helps with positivity and growth too.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

The level of confidence I have in myself has been the biggest area of improvement in the last 12 months. Once I start making small strides forward I gain momentum and want to keep pushing myself because I’m no longer in my head. Then more ideas come to mind and I get excited. By the time I look back at all the progress I’ve made in life, I realize it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be.
