Meet Nyah Melvin

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nyah Melvin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nyah below.

Nyah, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Honestly, I’m still navigating and learning how to overcome imposter syndrome. As a young Black woman in my twenties, it’s so easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to others or feeling like you’re falling behind. With my background in psychology, I’ve come to understand that feelings of self-doubt and insecurity are more common than we think, especially when stepping into new challenges or pursuing growth. One gem I’d like to share is that it’s so important to remind yourself that your success and accomplishments aren’t the result of luck or chance, but of your hard work. Celebrate everything you’re capable of, even the small wins. Remember, nobody has it all figured out, and real growth comes from stepping outside your comfort zone. Imposter syndrome will not define me, and it won’t define you either—focus on the process, embrace the journey, and know that you’ve got this!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Hi! I’m Nyah Melvin, the face behind PeachyBitesAtl. I created my page as a “leap of faith,” and it’s been an incredible journey ever since. I’m a food, travel, and entertainment content creator, and my work revolves around sharing unique experiences and inspiring others through travel, good eats, and adventures. What excites me most about this is the chance to constantly explore new places, flavors, and stories, and then bring those experiences to life for others. I love capturing and sharing the energy and excitement that comes with every new adventure—honestly, that’s why my camera roll is always packed with memories! What I find really special about what I do is the connection it creates with people who share the same passions. As for the future of PeachyBitesAtl, I’m not entirely sure where it’ll go, but I’m definitely looking forward to what’s next!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three key factors I attribute to my success thus far are resilience, adaptability, and lifelong learning. Resilience allows you to bounce back from failures, turning setbacks into valuable lessons. There will inevitably be times when things go wrong, and that’s perfectly okay. In a world that’s constantly evolving, the ability to learn and adapt is essential for success. As I navigate my twenties, a time of self-exploration and growth, I’ve come to appreciate the process itself. Another principle I value is staying curious and open to new knowledge and experiences, as those who embrace this mindset tend to grow faster. For those early in their journey, my advice is to remain open, flexible, and patient with yourself as you develop these skills. Small, consistent efforts will compound over time, leading to significant personal and professional growth. Finally, the most important piece of advice is to stay humble. No matter how much progress you make, there is always more to learn from others and from your own experiences. Humility keeps you grounded and open to continued growth, which is essential for long-term success.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I stop what I’m doing and take a step back. I’ll return to it a few minutes later with a fresh mind. It’s super easy to get caught up, but breaking things down into smaller, more manageable tasks really helps. Practicing mindfulness or taking short breaks—whether it’s through deep breathing, drawing, or baking—helps me reset. Another strategy is reaching out for support or advice from someone I trust. The biggest thing to remember is that it’s okay to step back and focus on one thing at a time. Overwhelm usually comes from trying to do everything at once, but progress happens through small, consistent actions. Stay patient and kind to yourself in the process and have fun!
