We recently connected with Kaimana Lani and have shared our conversation below.
Kaimana, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Through a lot of praying and surrendering. Through putting my health and family first and really giving over to God. I was able to step away from a job I had for over two decades and walk onto a road with no clear path. I have tried many things over the years.. I have followed my desire to want to learn. I’ve a lot of education and certification, but in the end my gift is making jewelry and that is what I am here to do for now. When God guides me to a new path, I will happily take those steps also.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a Faith Based Jewelry Designer for women who want to express their faith and look beautiful doing it. I love taking the designs I see in my head and turning them into a finished product and showing them off to the world. I feel so blessed when these pieces go to their proper homes with their people and they love them and more importantly feel the love that I infuse into them. My design process has many facets to it. Most often I do not know the “why” of the design until after it is put together. I will research the meaning behind the particular animal or flower and then understand why it came to me in that manner.
I love being able to work with my hands and create items that bring people love and joy. I do not have a set time for Drip Drops to happen because the inspiration comes when it does. I continue to foster my creativity when I am not making jewelry in other aspects of my life with writing and studying fashion design and keeping up with trends.
Recently I learned of Isaiah House 117 and their mission to help children transition into the foster system. In August I was able to donate four car seats and a pack and play with the help of my customers. I am going to donate 5% of the sales monthly to them and their cause because as a former teacher who had many students in foster care, I know how important the help is for these kiddos.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Having learned how to make jewelry on the streets of San Francisco as a girl, it was absolutely a pivotal moment in my development of my craft. It provided me an outlet as a child to find an art I may not have been exposed to in a traditional school system. I always went back to making jewelry in any time of stress or when I needed to get my creative energy going. Over the years I had many fledgling businesses doing just that, my first business called Fancy Pants Jewelry. My love of learning and gemstones and study of them kept me going on my journey. I absolutely feel that children should be allowed to and encouraged to learn different mediums of art. You never know what will stick as a love or hobby or eventually become their career and passion.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
I am currently working to broaden my reach. Having a physical product sometimes can prove interesting because consumers want to see and feel the item. Building an online business and getting out into the public to find my proper audience is something I am learning how to do on a daily basis and I have been really having a great time meeting new people and having them love Divine Drip Jewelry.
