Meet Faydra Black

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Faydra Black. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Faydra below.

Hi Faydra, really appreciate your meeting with us today to talk about some particularly personal topics. It means a lot because so many in the community are going through circumstances where your insights and experience and lessons might help, so thank you so much in advance for sharing. The first question we have is about divorce and how you overcame divorce and didn’t allow the trauma of divorce to derail your vision for your life and career.
Choosing to divorce was probably one of the best choices I have ever made. I was married for over a decade. During that time I lost who I was. I became a wife and a mother. But I lost me. My ex husband and I were at that point that we hated each other and it was unhealthy for us and our daughter. He became an alcoholic and my depression was at it’s worse. I gaining weight and sleeping all the time. But one day I decided I can’t do this anymore. So I moved out and started building a new life. I started content creation on Tiktok and Onlyfans. Yes I make money at it but that creativity has helped me learn who I am again and find the passion for life. I am happier, healthier and strive to be better everyday. Being a digital content creator allows me to have a flexible work schedule to spend time with my daughter as well as work and travel to different conventions and meet amazing people. I even met my current partner at a convention! Now my ex husband is sober and we are actually great friends. We are both better people apart than we were together. For us, divorce was the best choice!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a digital content creator. I make content across multiple platforms. Tiktok, Twitch, Instagram, & Onlyfans. I discuss mental health, parenting, crazy dating stories, cosplay stuff and play videogames. I am all over the place. I also run events and panels at multiple conventions through out the year. Momocon, DragonCon, Dreamhack just name a few.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Organization, Perseverance, and Optimism.

Organization. If you are going to be doing multiple things you have to keep yourself organized. I have an amazing color coded digital calendar. I would be so lost without it.

Perseverance. Don’t give up if things don’t work out right away. Rework your ideas and try again. Take criticism but also be true to yourself and your ideals.

Optimism. Go into every interaction expecting it to work. Go into in every event expecting to wow people, to be the center of the room. Be strong in your ideas and what you have to offer!

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
My biggest challenge is consistency in putting out digital content. Sometimes trying to juggle content creation, bill paying jobs, parenting and somewhat of a social life doesn’t work so well. For me, I choose to take a step back from content creation when I get overwhelmed which does hurt my growth. I tried to ignore my 0wn social life and focus on everything else once and that just led to burnout and I was miserable. So learning not to over extend myself is the challenge I face in my ability to be consistent. I rarely say no to a new project. But sometimes you have to.
