Meet Jenna Mutya

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenna Mutya a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jenna , first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

Overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey, and I still experience it from time to time. What helped me the most was recognizing that self-doubt is a normal part of growth. The more I leaned into the discomfort, the more I realized it was a sign that I was stepping outside of my comfort zone—exactly where I needed to be.

Building a support network has been crucial, too. Surrounding myself with people who believe in me, whether it’s family, friends, or clients, helped me see my value when I couldn’t. I also learned to celebrate my wins, no matter how small, and to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that got me to where I am. Instead of comparing myself to others, I’ve focused on my own unique journey and the impact I’m making.

Ultimately, I realized that no one has it all figured out, and everyone is constantly learning. I mean, let’s face it, we are all living life for the first time (including our parents). Thus, giving myself grace and trusting the process helped me move past the fear of not being “good enough” and focus on continuously growing and delivering value to my clients.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m Jenna, the founder of RBRND STUDIOS, a creative agency that empowers solopreneurs and small businesses through digital marketing, brand strategy, and financial planning. What excites me most is seeing our clients thrive—building meaningful connections with their audiences and growing their businesses in impactful ways.

At RBRND, we’re driven by a mission to help others achieve their purpose. We focus on creating personalized strategies that truly reflect each brand’s unique story. Currently, we’re expanding our services and continuing our partnership with LDM Ventures to offer affordable financial planning. Additionally, we’ve been having the best time offering creative workshops to help entrepreneurs elevate their brands in new and innovative ways.

Originally from the Bay Area, I moved to LA to finish my business management degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising. Founding RBRND has been a rewarding journey, and I’m excited for the future as we continue to grow and support our clients in achieving their goals.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are curiosity, resilience, and intentionality.

Curiosity: My journey into digital marketing started with curiosity. I always wanted to know more, learn more, and understand how things worked, especially in the ever-evolving world of social media and marketing. Staying curious allowed me to constantly grow and adapt, whether it was trying new strategies for clients or exploring ways to improve my skills. If you’re early in your journey, stay curious and open to learning. Don’t be afraid to explore different avenues, ask questions, and seek out knowledge, even in areas outside your comfort zone. One of the greatest business advice I’ve ever received came from my cousin, “closed mouths don’t get fed.” (Karl Flores). This mindset will help you stay ahead and continuously evolve.

Resilience: There were countless moments when things didn’t go as planned—setbacks, rejections, and challenges that felt overwhelming. But resilience helped me push through. Building a business or career isn’t easy, and you will face hurdles, but being able to bounce back and keep going is key. My advice to those starting out is to embrace failure as part of the journey. Every challenge is a lesson that helps you grow stronger and wiser. Don’t be discouraged by setbacks; instead, use them as opportunities to learn and improve. “Legends get scared too…it’s legendary to be afraid and do it anyway,” (Miley Cyrus, 2024 Disney Legends Ceremony).

Intentionality: Being intentional with my decisions has been crucial in building my business and reputation. Whether it’s the projects I take on, the clients I work with, or the way I manage my time, intentionality keeps me focused on what matters most. For those early in their journey, I’d recommend being mindful of the choices you make. Have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and make decisions that align with that vision. Don’t just take on opportunities for the sake of it—make sure they’re in line with your long-term goals and values. This will help you stay true to yourself and build a foundation that leads to sustained success.

Developing curiosity, resilience, and intentionality will not only help you navigate challenges but also keep you focused on growth and purpose throughout your journey.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey has played a pivotal role in my personal and professional growth. Covey’s framework is centered around timeless principles that help you live with purpose, integrity, and effectiveness, which resonate deeply with my own values. His focus on proactive behavior, prioritizing what truly matters, and fostering interdependence has shaped how I approach both my business and personal life.

The habit of “Begin with the End in Mind” has been particularly impactful. It’s helped me define clear goals and envision the legacy I want to leave, both for RBRND and my life. This habit ensures that everything I do is aligned with my long-term vision and values.

“Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood” is another concept I apply regularly in my personal and professional life. Listening deeply and fully understanding those I’m surrounded by, allows me to create more genuine connections. Additionally, Covey’s idea of win-win solutions, focusing on mutual benefit, mirrors my approach to building long-term relationships in business and in life.

Ultimately, this book has given me a roadmap to cultivate better habits, and it’s helped me stay grounded while consistently pushing myself to grow. Whether it’s in my personal development or in supporting RBRND, the lessons from Covey’s book are a guiding force.
