Meet Bethany Blanton

We recently connected with Bethany Blanton and have shared our conversation below.

Bethany, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My faith.
As a Christian, I feel like most circumstances that find me are manageable. I also believe that everything happens for a reason, and I may not know that reason for a while IF ever. Knowing this gives me confidence that I can handle and survive whatever comes my way. It may not be easy, but it’s possible.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I have been a photographer for almost 20 years. During that time, I have been able to experience so many wonderful moments, met amazing people and witnessed truly special events in the lives of others. Within the last few years, I have narrowed my focus to doing personal branding sessions and other one-on-one sessions. I feel like this has helped me to provide a more personal experience for my clients. We get to enjoy the entire process together, without distractions or concerns.
I am also beginning to help my clients with their social media/internet presence by not only assisting with content creation but also writing blog posts for them. A lot of people struggle with words. Ask anyone who knows me, that is not a struggle for me.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I am almost completely self-taught in the world of photography, but have dabbled with videos on the internet when I have something I can’t quite figure out. That’s been a huge blessing!

Posing is so important in photography. After years of trial and error, working with all kinds of body types and personalities, I have a comfortable relationship with posing my clients. A simple shift can make a world of difference to the way someone looks in a photograph.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Any time I feel overwhelmed, I find that making lists helps me. I am a very visual person, so seeing everything I have to do helps me to focus and get it done. Regardless of the task ahead, writing it down helps me feel like I’ve already gotten started on completing it. That may sound silly to some, but it has helped me so much. The feeling of crossing things off of these lists gives me a feeling of accomplishment. Such a simple thing, yet it’s so impactful for me.
