Meet Edwin De La Rosa

We were lucky to catch up with Edwin De La Rosa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Edwin, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

Look, I’ve been told ” You can’t do that” my whole life. I just consider the source. Most of the time it’s coming from as you said, Haters and Nay-sayers which I put into three categories. Number one: Those that are to scared to try. Number Two: Those that wish to see you fail because they did. Finally number three: Those who have made it and believe you to be a threat to their position.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Wow! Where can I start. Artistic career that’s hard if you’re truthful because in entertainment you either are or you are not, entertaining that is. You can’t think you’re entertaining the public that has the final say on that which takes me to the place I love, the creation of a story. This is where the magic happens. The tiny little breeze of an idea that turns into a lighting storm of emotions that’s too good to keep to yourself so you twist it and turn it into molding its characters and landscapes into something as real as life itself. A lifetime in minutes where your audience can escape to whether it’s to laugh, scream or cry. So keep a close eye on Krystal Rose Productions and La Rosa Cinema for upcoming projects like Oasis music video, Unk comedy series, Animales comedy movie and Crybaby the legend of La Llorona, an action adventure horror feature film.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Only three? Let’s stick to general show biz on that. Numero Uno: Confidence, Believe in yourself, if you’re not convinced you are good at it, what you do no one else will believe it either. Number two: Humility, Never believe you’re too good to learn from others or pick up new skills, technology is changing by the minute now. Number three: Budget (aka Money), There is nothing worse than not having enough money to complete a project. Nobody wants a halfway made anything. I love the arts more than most but Show Biz is show business. If it’s not making a profit, it’s just another show!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes we are always looking for collaborators and partners. I’m not trying to make this a hobby or pastime.
