Meet Ermis Martinez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ermis Martinez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Ermis , appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

My self-discipline sprouts from my history with sports. Growing up I wasn’t always the skinniest kid. Luckily, my parents attempted to enroll me in Pop Warner Football. As we went to sign up, I was told that I was overweight for my team and that for me to play under regulation I’d have to lose 20 pounds in less than 2 weeks. Now, as a kid and a parent that sounds brutal and inhumane for a 10-year-old, but I told my mom that I was ready to commit to the challenge. With that being said, I made the team and continued to play football for the next 9 years. After many difficult instances that challenged my self-discipline, I always remind myself that I am ready to take on any challenge.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I started off my journey by taking pictures for my High School Basketball Team. I started to post the pictures and not only did the team love their pictures, but so did the community around me. I continued to post consistent content regarding local sporting events. And finally, I was able to shoot for Robert Kraft at Grace by Nia while an intern at Eights Digital. After that event, I told myself that I could make an impact in this industry if I continued to put my best foot forward. I then went on to shoot for Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, 50 Cent, The New England Patriots, The Boston Celtics, Duncan Robinson, and many more under my account. I’m super grateful to be able to display my form of storytelling through a pair of lenses. What I love most about my passion, are the reactions. Recently, I’ve been shifting my storytelling through cinematography. And let me tell you, I love it. I plan on learning new ways to better my storytelling and am ready to take on some exciting projects along the way.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three skills have significantly impacted me on my journey, and I’ve fully embraced them. The first is consistency. Early on, I discovered that the more I posted each week, the more engagement and attention my business received. Consistency is essential for success. The second key lesson is the importance of stepping out of my comfort zone. There have been many moments when I had to push myself beyond my limits to learn valuable lessons. Lastly, I realized that things can become overwhelming over time, which can easily lead to burnout. It’s crucial to take steps to avoid that.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?

My biggest area of growth has definitely been in organization and intention. Over time, I’ve realized that being able to organize my work and approach tasks with purpose has significantly improved my results. In the beginning, I often felt overwhelmed by the chaos of juggling multiple projects and deadlines. However, as I developed better organizational skills, I noticed a marked difference in my productivity and the quality of my work. This growth has had a ripple effect beyond my professional life; it has also transformed my day-to-day experiences. As a full-time college student, maintaining alignment and organization in my schedule is more than just helpful—it’s essential. Balancing classes, assignments, and personal commitments can be challenging, but having a structured approach allows me to manage my time effectively and reduce stress. By prioritizing tasks and setting clear intentions for each day, I’ve been able to focus on what truly matters. This has not only enhanced my academic performance but has also given me more time to enjoy my college experience. Ultimately, learning to be organized and intentional has made a profound impact on both my work and personal life.
