Meet Andra Shinaul

We recently connected with Andra Shinaul and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Andra, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my father. He started his business, Pearl Building Services, from the ground up when I was just four years old. I watched him work tirelessly, facing challenges and setbacks with unwavering determination. He never gave up, no matter how difficult things got. His commitment to his goals was inspiring, and he continued working hard until he passed away last year. His dedication and resilience taught me the importance of perseverance and hard work, and I carry that with me in everything I do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Andra, and I’ve been a deep tissue massage therapist for 12 years. My practice focuses on pain relief and improving movementn in the body, and I find it incredibly rewarding to see clients leave with noticeable improvements. In addition to massage therapy, I’m currently studying naturopathy, which helps broaden my approach to holistic healing. I also develop natural products like my Peace Out Tea, which aids in stress relief and sleep, and my upcoming ‘Ew, Germs’ Tea, launching on October 7. Plus, I offer a special rate for new clients—$95 for a massage session

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Financial Awareness (“Know Your Numbers”): Understanding the financial aspects of running a business, like overhead, client capacity, pricing, and operational costs such as payroll and laundry. This is critical for profitability and success. Don’t be like me. I was giving 60 minute massage for $45 dollars. Never again. Know your worth.

Resilience: Acknowledging that the first year of business can be especially tough. Success often comes from persistence, following up on leads, networking, and staying active on social media. The hustle during this phase builds a strong foundation. Just remember hustling isn’t all there is though. Rest is important on this journey.

Patience: Not everything will be an overnight success. It’s important to resist jumping from one trend or “hack” to another when things don’t work immediately. Marketing and growth can take time, and sometimes just being patient and giving it a few months pays off. If not, change one aspect then go from there.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who is deeply committed to investing in their overall well-being—mind, body, and soul. They’re looking for relief from pain and want to improve their mobility so they can get back to doing what they love, whether it’s bodybuilding, running, dancing, or just going about their daily routine. With their focus being long term wellness!

Where do you get your work ethic from?
