We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chynna Morgan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chynna, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from trusting in God, trusting the process, and trusting myself. I deeply believe that what is meant for me will come to me, and what isn’t will not. Embracing this mindset brings me peace.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m currently building Vidlo, a platform that allows brands and music artists to create user-generated video campaigns. We enable brands to capture video testimonials from their customers and give music artists’ fans the ability to create videos around their favorite music to share with the world.
What excites me most about Vidlo is that we’re empowering your biggest fans to talk about your brand in an authentic and effortless way. Many brands tell their audience how amazing they are, but when that message comes from your existing customers, people are far more likely to stop, listen, and buy. As I build Vidlo, I’ve always focused on the fact that people trust people more than they trust a brand.
One of my passions is educating brands and artists about the power of video and the importance of creating experiences that inspire their audience to create content that supercharges sales.
What’s really cool about our customers is their creativity in engaging with their audience. Some set up QR codes at activations, stores, or studios, allowing their audience to scan and create videos on the spot. Others easily set up email or text campaigns, sending out a URL to capture content that way. With so many ways to create experiences, there’s no excuse not to capture the most powerful content possible.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the three most impactful qualities or skills in my journey have been:
Resilience – Being okay with the thousands of “no’s” you might hear every day, yet staying so confident in your vision that it doesn’t faze you. You keep pushing forward.
Creativity – Every entrepreneur needs a degree of creativity, whether it’s in how you approach outreach, marketing, or connecting with your audience.
Knowing when to ask for help – I quickly learned I couldn’t do everything myself. Once I unlocked the ability to seek help, I was able to grow.
My advice to upcoming founders: Be truly passionate about what you’re building. If you believe in yourself and your company, things will start to fall into place. Entrepreneurship is a continuous learning journey. You’ll stumble and get back up quickly, but each fall teaches you something invaluable that sets you up for future success.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to instill self-belief. From a very young age, they made sure I understood that I could achieve anything I set my mind to, and that foundation has shaped who I am today.
