We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Angiebeth Avendano. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Angiebeth below.
Angiebeth, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my journey as an immigrant, stepping into the unknown with the hope of building a better life. I came with nothing but a dream and a strong will to succeed. That feeling of having nothing to lose gave me the courage to embrace every challenge, pushing myself beyond my limits. After spending over 8 years at an amazin company, where I grew both professionally and personally, I knew it was time to take a leap of faith. Starting Ola Design Studio, my own interior design business wasn’t just a career move—it was the culmination of my desire to create spaces that tell stories of growth, transformation, and possibility, much like my own.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What makes my work truly special is knowing that the spaces I design will be where families come together—where they’ll share meals, create memories, and experience countless moments of laughter. The idea that my designs become the backdrop for family reunions and lifelong memories inspires me to give my best in every project, whether it’s a kitchen redesign or a full home renovation. It’s more than just transforming spaces—it’s about shaping a place where life happens. That’s what makes this work so meaningful to me.
As an interior designer, I pour my heart into creating spaces that reflect who we are and where we want to go. What excites me most is designing environments for kids—spaces where they can grow, explore, and let their imagination run wild. There’s something magical about shaping a room that feels like a world of possibility for a child.
I’m also excited about expanding my work overseas. A personal goal of mine is to take on more projects in Venezuela, my home country, to give back to families there and create spaces that bring comfort and joy. This connection to both the present and my roots drives me to make every project special and meaningful.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are experience, focus, and curiosity. Gaining hands-on experience while working with others allowed me to learn from different perspectives and continuously improve. It taught me to always strive for something better, pushing the boundaries of what I could achieve.
Staying organized and focused has been essential to managing complex projects and ensuring I deliver more than what’s expected. Finally, curiosity has kept me growing—by staying open to learning something new every day, even if it’s small, I’ve been able to evolve as a designer and a business owner.
My advice to those just starting is to embrace every opportunity to learn. Be proactive in gaining experience, remain focused on your goals, and stay curious. Success comes from a blend of hard work, organization, and the willingness to keep pushing yourself forward.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who loves to create a welcoming home where family and friends feel invited and comfortable. They cherish the idea of hosting gatherings, knowing their space reflects their personality and brings people together. At the same time, they value the importance of having a sanctuary—a place where they can return at the end of the day to feel relaxed and at peace.
They appreciate design that combines beauty and function, making their home not only visually stunning but also a space that truly works for their lifestyle. They are excited to collaborate, trust the process, and enjoy the journey of transforming their space into something that feels deeply personal and meaningful.
