Meet Nick Poppa

We were lucky to catch up with Nick Poppa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Nick, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?

Practicing what I preach by following the 6 foundational principles of health.

1) No stinkin’ thinkin’ ! Keeping my thoughts positive and dream affirmative.
2) Breathing, through my nose and into my belly to regulate my nervous system more optimal.
3) Drinking 1/2 my bodyweight in ounces of clean, mineralized water daily.
4) Eating quality organic foods according to my bodies needs.
5) Moving daily with exercises sessions at least 4 days a week.
6) Getting a good night sleep!

Of course I am not perfect, not everyday are these 6 perfect or completely tailored to however these basic health principles have changed my own life immensely. I have more energy and willingness to keep up with my clients, my day as well as being a living example of what is possible. On top of that, I haven’t missed a day of work from being sick in years!!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Long story short, I developed my business, FLOW Rewired, out of my own healing journey. I suffered from chronic pain, injuries, IBS as well as living a life devoid of purpose and meaning. Yielding little results from conventional methods, I came to the conclusion I must empower myself and take charge of my own health and life. That is exactly what I did.

Following came the birth FLOW Rewired. A means for me to help others who struggle in the same way, looking for the same opportunity, to empower themselves and take charge of their own health, body, and life. Primarily bridging the gap between rehabilitation and fitness, I guide clients to have more consistent energy, experience pain-free movement with a renewed sense of confidence and happiness. With mindset shifts to a more positive outlook, and an increased engagement in their work and relationships.

Working 1-on-1 with any practitioner can be expensive. A worth while investment but sometimes it isn’t feasible for some individuals. The most exciting opportunity I will be providing within the next year is an affordable opportunity for individuals to become healthier. A self paced holistic health workbook/educational journal, if you will, to spark self awareness, track your habits, and recieve education to cultivate health and healing.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I wouldn’t exactly say these are skills or qualities but they are the most impactful tips I’ve received getting started on my journey and business.

First, I’d say find a system, for whatever you are looking to do, that has the right tools available. Example, for me, finding the CHEK Institute. Super comprehensive system that provides all the assessments and training necessary. You don’t need a lot of different education starting out but what education you get needs to be effective. Follow that with nailing the foundations of it and you’re good to go.

Second, find a mentor. Someone you see who is, successfully, doing that thing you want to do or at least something similar to it and learn from them. Work with them or underneath them. They have experience in the field, and best part is, you can learn from the mistake they made.

Lastly, don’t wait til you “have it.” Whether it’s a new camera, instagram posts, equipment, website, whatever it may be, there will always be something you feel you need in order to start. Don’t wait, there will never be a right time, just start doing.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

BMAN. Breath – Move – Accept – Needs

Breathing first. First 2/3’s of that breath into your belly, last 1/3 into the chest. 3-5 deep ones too.

Moving around whether, literally, getting up and shaking it off or stepping away into another room.

Accept whatever it is that is causing the overwhelm. It isn’t going to suddenly disappear, whatever it is.

This brings us to needs. Bit more multifaceted but, for me, it is usually what do I need in this moment? As well as, what does this situation need from me. Maybe I need some water and a couple deep breaths in order to center myself. As far as the cause of the overwhelm, what does it require of me? Do I need to handle it head on or is it something I can step away from.

This has helped me shape why mental state and approach to not only overwhelm but anxiety, anger, and any other emotion that floods over me.
