Meet Isa Antonetti

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Isa Antonetti a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Isa, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

My purpose came from the encouragement of my family. When I realized what I loved also brought so much joy to those around me, I knew it would be a defining part of my life. My family has never wavered in their belief that I could find success in my passion for singing and acting and that is how I came to understand that my passion and love for performing was also my purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

The previous article mentions some of my professional credits, but I would love to add some exciting news! I am overjoyed and humbled to be making my Broadway Debut in Buena Vista Social Club this spring (2025)! Being able to tell this story and perform Latin music on a Broadway stage is so meaningful as I grew up surrounded by Latin musicians in my family. It is such an honor to bring music, stories, and Latin heritage to the big stage and I hope I can inspire so many others who dream of performing and sharing their stories.
As a Latinx, Indigenous, Mixed-Race LGBTQIA+ actress and singer, I strive to take on roles that represent me and mean something to me, even the slightest connection. I strive to give the little girl who looks like me or identifies with me, a voice of representation. To see herself on that stage, that screen, that cover of a magazine, and know she is seen, she is heard, and she is not alone.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Authenticity, knowing your people, and enjoying your abilities. These have not only brought me opportunities, but allowed me to feel safe in choosing to do work that is meaningful and aligns with who I am.

A great way to find where you fit into this chaotic world of performing is first looking inward and feeling confident about what you see. While it can be hard to get your foot in the door, I’ve found that honing in on who I am has brought more opportunities as I have the specifics to promote myself.
In terms of knowing your people, it can be easy to get caught up in what others are doing. Everyone in the entertainment industry is movie and trying to make their way, but the people that I have find keep me grounded and support me, are those that want to listen as much as they want to speak. Support is give and take and finding people that are able to make space solely for you is important, as is reciprocating that.
By “enjoying your abilities” I mean taking time to step back and appreciate the talent and skills you’ve developed along your journey. When I’m feeling that monster of imposter syndrome, I’ll go sing a song and get my energy out. It grounds me and reminds me of where I started and what brings me joy!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

I recognized my parents in the previous article, but I can never credit them enough. My parents brought music into my life. That is how they met. My entire family plays instruments, sings, and performs. Music feels like it is quite literally in my blood and my parents said I was singing before I started talking. My parents gave me my first love and they support this love, every step of the way.
