Meet Willis Brown

We were lucky to catch up with Willis Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.

Willis, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

When the time comes for me to come through for myself, I’ve never been let down with my effort. Time and time again I’m here for me and that’s what has built my confidence up. Being comfortable in your own skin is a solid base, from there it’s all effort and trust in your ability.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am an audio engineer, singer-songwriter, and music producer. These are all self-taught skill I’ve developed and with them I have had the privilege of being the glue guy for a lot of amazing projects. The ability to start a song and be apart of its creation through every step really allows me to lock in a signature sound for myself and artists I work with.

Currently, I’m finalizing sample packs fellow producers can use to take my sound and throw their twist on it. Next I’ll focus on templates and presets for the engineers out there looking to throw new techniques into their workflow. One of many ways I’m planning on helping the next up-and-coming creatives out there.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My inquisitiveness, patience and integrity are what I credit as the most impactful in my journey. There has been many a time I could have taken short cuts or plod away in a desultory fashion just to be in a room for a placement, but I don’t see how I could have grown from that. The time I allowed myself to learn via trial and error has me at a point now where possibilities seem endless and the results match the execution.

The creative journey is a long one. Reminding yourself that repetition leads to retention and knowing the frustrations of a learning curve is temporary can help anyone get to that next step. A strong mindset and work ethic can do wonders.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m looking to collaborate with an artists who have compelling stories—those whose journey informs their work and adds depth and nuance to their expression. An artist with unique perspectives that resonate with audiences would bring out the best of me and we’d fuel of each other’s ideas leading to great music.

I want to partner with someone who is not only passionate about their craft but also eager to share their story in a way that invites others in.

Together, I envision bring their vision to life, translating their experiences into an audio experience we could look back and smile about for years to come. This collaboration should feel like a journey, allowing both of us to grow and learn through the process, while creating something meaningful that speaks to the heart of our shared human experience.
