We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Elizabeth Merriwether. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Elizabeth below.
Hi Elizabeth , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
A bit more than 8 years ago I was presented with a major life adjustment – my Mom died unexpectedly. As I moved through that period I became very depressed & began therapy. As I was doing the work of digging deeper into issues I realized I most likely was not the only woman feeling this aching feeling or had felt this. As I continued on my therapy journey I realized I should create a company & community to support women to be intentional when it comes to focusing on their self care. I recognized I had not previously given myself the care that I needed & because I’d gain some tools & insights I’d be operating in purpose to daily share those tools with other women.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Self Care/Purpose Coach, certified herbal practitioner, particularly women of color, prioritize their self-care in a world that often demands they put themselves last. Through my coaching, workshops, wellness products, & books I empower women to embrace rest, nurture their well-being, and unapologetically place themselves first—mind, body, spirit & financially.
What excites me the most about my work is witnessing the transformation in women who initially come to me feeling overwhelmed, stretched far beyond their capacity, & giving their energy to everything else other than themselves. Watching them rediscover their strength and start living intentionally with confidence and grace focused on their self care. I create safe spaces, whether it’s through one-on-one coaching or community workshops like my new workshop “Self Care Is All Over Me” where women can focus on their needs, discover their true purpose and claim all of their power.
I’m also excited about a few things this year. The first is The Well Station Women’s Connections, which is designed to bring like-minded women together to connect, share, and grow in their wellness journeys. We had our first Connection Brunch a few weeks ago & it was definitely as I imagined. I’ve launched a wellness journal, which is designed to help busy career women prioritize their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The journal opens space for self reflection, daily goal setting to ensure self care is incorporated into a busy woman’s schedule. I’ve also been focused on expanding my self care boutique, which now offers even more products to nourish the body and soul. Lastly, as I’m being intentional supporting women to take action in finding their purpose, I took a bold leap as a contributing author in the powerful book collaboration, Trailblazers: Embracing Change, Pursuing Purpose, & Finding Success. This opportunity allowed me to share my personal journey—the challenges I faced, the growth I experienced, and how I ultimately discovered my own purpose.
This is more than just a business for me—this is a mission & a movement to help women realize they are deserving of love, care, and success. I’d love for your readers to follow along with my journey and, more importantly, commit to their own self-care journeys!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I would say the three qualities that have been impactful on my journey would be resilience, authenticity & understanding. I have faced a number of personal & professional challenges on my journey. I have recognized success is not instant for everyone. I know it has not been for me. Everyday I work to do at least 2 – 3 things that contribute to my final goal. That’s where being resilient is important.
Secondly, I’ve had to walk away from some people & business opportunities that did not align with my mission & my values of prioritizing authentic self care, personal growth, and empowering women to lead lives rooted in purpose and wellness. You have to hold true to your mission & are clear of your final destination with your business to remain authentic.
Thirdly, increasing your knowledge to be able to offer quality services to your clients. I invest a lot of finances & time in continuous education, certifications, & personal growth so that I can provide the highest level of support, guidance, & expertise to the women I serve.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I’m always open to partnering or collaborating. I’d love to connect with healers & mental health professionals that serve women. Our services would need to complement each other. It would be important that our partnership aligns with my values of authenticity, empowerment & wellness.
