We were lucky to catch up with Miranda Desruisseaux recently and have shared our conversation below.
Miranda, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Growing up, I definitely lacked self-esteem and confidence. I never really felt like I fit in anywhere, and I certainly didn’t feel like I was good at anything. High school was tough for this reason.
Once I entered college, I started to explore new hobbies and passions but I still felt lost. It wasn’t until I started my Epicure career that I really tapped in to who Miranda is. I realized that I had a calling. Not only was I discovering how to cook, eat healthy and feed my family well, I was teaching others how to do the same thing. The fact that I can make an executive income doing what I absolutely love feels unbelievable. As my passion grew, so did my team. I started welcoming new ambassadors from all across North America to join me in putting healthy food on the table for thousands of families. I began speaking at conferences, going live on social media, travelling across Canada and the US to meet people and to grow. All of those factors helped to really boost my confidence. It’s hard to believe that it took the first 3 decades of my life to get there, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. All of my experiences in life have helped shape me for this!
One thing that’s super important to me is to instill a healthy self-esteem in my three children. I don’t want them waiting until adulthood to feel good about themselves, to explore their passions and to really shine. They are my why.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Miranda. I’m a busy mom of 3 kids, aged 13, 12 and 8. All 3 of my kids play hockey so we, like many, are a very busy household. We live in a very small town in Northern Ontario and so we’re always travelling for hockey tournaments in the winter months. In the summer, we love camping, fishing, anything outdoors in the wilderness.
Epicure is my full-time job, but I’m also a Zumba and fitness instructor and teach about 5 classes/week. Even though this makes our lives even crazier, it’s so important to me to include fitness in my life for my physical and mental health.
Epicure…being that I’m in such a small town, I’ve always had to run my business creatively. How can I find NEW customers, hosts and team members in a town of 900 people? Since 2012 when I started this business, I knew I’d have to find people from other cities. This is why I was so excited when in 2019 Epicure branched into the United States. Now I can help a whole other nation to feed their families healthy, easy budget-friendly meals. This year marks our 5 year USA birthday and we are SO excited to continue to share cross-border. It’s such an amazing time to jump in to Epicure if you’re in the US, being that it’s still a ground-floor opportunity.
We are gluten-free, nut-free, low sodium and sugar in comparison to store-bought food…and we’re good for you while still tasting amazing. Now’s the time to try it out!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Grit, creativity and resilience have been an integral part of my journey. Being an entrepreneur in this day and age is not easy. I’ve had to be willing to stick out the tough times, figure out different ways to work my business when times are changing, and not get discouraged when I hear “no”.
It’s tempting to walk away sometimes…to go for that 9-5 job with a consistent pay. But remind yourself like I do every day, this is my dream, it’s possible, and I’ve built way too much to give it all up. We can do hard things!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
An ideal client for me is someone who eats. lol!
All jokes aside, I’m looking to help people who are time-starved and reaching for those processed meals or fast food at dinner time because they feel that’s their only quick option.
I’m looking for people who have dietary restraints and are frustrated with the lack of options that are safe for themselves or family members.
I’m seeing out people who are needing an extra stream of income to help afford to pay bills, kids’ sports fees, or to pay off debt.
People who don’t feel they have kitchen skills–I want to help them to see how easy and fun cooking can be!
