Meet Giovanni & Amanda Ramirez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Giovanni & Amanda Ramirez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Giovanni & Amanda below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Giovanni & Amanda with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

We come from a proud Latin household where hard work and dedication were not just values, but a way of life. Our parents and grandparents worked tirelessly their entire lives to provide for our families, often juggling multiple jobs to ensure we had opportunities they didn’t. Growing up, we saw firsthand the importance of perseverance, commitment, and doing things the right way, even when it wasn’t easy. These lessons have stayed with us, shaping our work ethic and drive to always give our best effort in everything we do.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

We are food truck owners partnered with Pompano Beach Brewing Company in Pompano Beach. We have been partnered with them for over 2 years after working around the Broward area for 3 years, and the relationship between us and the community has been so welcoming. We are growing together and we get to do so many fun events like live music, trivia night, and beer fests. We are currently working with the brewery to help fundraise for those impacted by Hurricane Helene in Asheville, NC. We recently opened our new food truck after having an accident in our food trailer and just being a pop-up vendor in the meantime so we are really excited to be back in a truck!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on our journey with the food truck, the three most impactful qualities and skills were resilience, adaptability, and customer-focused service.

Resilience: Running a food truck comes with a lot of unpredictability, from bad weather to mechanical issues, and even shifts in customer preferences. Being resilient and staying committed, even when things get tough, has been key to keeping the business moving forward.

Adaptability: In the food industry, trends and tastes change rapidly. Being adaptable—whether it’s adjusting the menu based on customer feedback or pivoting to cater events when foot traffic is slow—has made a huge difference in keeping our business relevant and successful.

Customer-Focused Service: Food trucks are often personal experiences for customers, so connecting with them and offering great service is essential. A genuine smile, remembering regulars, and going above and beyond to make sure customers leave happy has helped me build a loyal customer base.

For those starting out, I would advise them to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. Developing resilience comes with facing obstacles head-on. Be open to learning and adapting—no matter how much you plan, there will always be surprises, and your ability to pivot quickly will serve you well. Finally, never underestimate the power of good customer service. In this industry, the relationships you build are as important as the food you serve.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

We believe a balance between both is important. While going all in on our strengths can give us a competitive edge, it’s equally important to improve on weaker areas to avoid potential setbacks. Focusing only on strengths can limit growth, but ignoring weaknesses can lead to gaps that may harm the business in the long run. We’ve found that building on strengths gives you confidence and keeps you motivated, but improving weaknesses ensures you’re well-rounded enough to handle the challenges that inevitably come up. Our advice is to lean into your strengths but never neglect the areas that can hold you back.
