Meet Shadae Stoner

We were lucky to catch up with Shadae Stoner recently and have shared our conversation below.

Shadae, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

You know, being the only one in the room who looks like you can be challenging, but I’ve found that it also creates an opportunity to stand out and make an impression. At first, it can feel intimidating, but over time, I’ve learned to turn that feeling into motivation. I remind myself that I bring something unique to the table—my perspective, my experience, and my skills.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Sure! So, I’m in real estate, and what excites me the most is how every day brings something new. Whether it’s helping someone find their dream home or working on a big investment property, I love the idea of making a real impact on people’s lives. The personal connections you build along the way are really special—it’s not just about properties, it’s about understanding people’s needs, their vision, and helping them achieve it.

One thing that sets my approach apart is how much I focus on truly getting to know my clients. I think that personal touch is what makes a difference—it’s not just about closing a deal, but creating a relationship where people feel supported throughout the whole process.

As for what’s new, I’m currently expanding into some exciting markets, looking into more investment opportunities and larger developments. I’m also working on bringing more innovative tech into the real estate process to make things easier and more efficient for my clients. It’s a thrilling time, and I can’t wait to see how things evolve!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say three key things have really shaped my journey: persistence, adaptability, and relationship-building. First, persistence is huge—real estate can be a rollercoaster, and it’s easy to get discouraged when things don’t go your way. But pushing through those tough times, staying focused on the bigger picture, and being consistent has been so important for me.

Adaptability is another one. The market is constantly changing, and no two clients or properties are the same. You have to be able to pivot and adjust your strategies.

Finally, relationship-building is probably the most impactful. Real estate is so much about trust—people are making major life decisions, and they want to feel confident in who they’re working with. I’ve found that taking the time to really connect with people, whether they’re clients, other agents, or even vendors, creates long-term value. Those relationships are often the key to new opportunities.

For anyone early in their journey, I’d say focus on being patient and consistent. You’re not going to have all the answers right away, but if you’re open to learning, keep showing up, and nurture your relationships, you’ll set a strong foundation for success.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my mom did was show me resilience. She worked so hard and never gave up, no matter how tough things got. That taught me to stay determined and always push forward. When I got older and reconnected with my dad, I realized that we don’t fully understand what it’s like to be an adult until we’re older. It gave me a new perspective on the challenges my parents faced, together, they taught me the value of perseverance and support.
