We were lucky to catch up with Annabela Nikolov recently and have shared our conversation below.
Annabela, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Since I was a little girl, I always believed I’ve had a big imagination, which plays into my creativity. In a world that can be dull and dark at times, I’d like to think that my creativity and optimism keeps me alive and keeps me going and I’d like to hope that it can do that for others if you let it!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hi my name is Annabela, I am an artist and currently trying to pursue a career as a radiology technician! I currently paint for family and friends and in the beginning of this year I had my first art exhibit where I could showcase some of my favorite pieces! Since I was a little girl I always loved bright colors and shapes and designs and so on! I think my art can be funky and weird but also beautiful inside and out and I think it expresses me perfectly!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I would definitely say that the best qualities or skills that have impacted me the most is definitely my work ethic, planning ahead for things and my creativity. I definitely learned these qualities from the impactful people in my life such as family and friends and it helps me get through each day and look forward to the next! Advice I would give to folks in their journey would be don’t let things that only affect you temporarily destroy you! There’s a solution to everything, so don’t stress over the little things! Focus on the bigger picture.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents were immigrants from a country called Bulgaria. I speak on this quite often but that’s because I want to remind myself that I don’t want my parents sacrifice for my brother and I to be for nothing. They came to this country with nothing and built themselves a beautiful life. I look up to them for their work ethic, their persistence and their silliness and love for life. I love them both so much and work everyday to make them proud.
