I developed my confidence and self-esteem through a combination of education, practice, and positive reinforcement. By investing in my personal and professional development, I built a solid foundation of knowledge and skills.

Gaining experience in various areas allowed me to recognize my strengths and abilities, which boosted my self-assurance. Additionally, receiving constructive feedback from mentors and peers helped me to grow and improve continuously. Celebrating my accomplishments, no matter how small, reinforced my belief in myself and my capabilities. Ultimately, a commitment to lifelong learning and embracing challenges has been key to building my confidence.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey with Shade & Blade Brow Boutique, I’d say the three qualities that have had the most impact are technical skill, customer service, and a commitment to continuous learning.

Technical skill has been essential. I focused on mastering microblading and microshading techniques through quality training, which helped me deliver great results for my clients. My advice to those just starting out is to invest in reputable training programs and practice as much as possible to hone your skills.

Customer service is another area that I think is crucial. Building strong relationships with clients has helped me create a welcoming atmosphere where they feel understood and valued. I recommend that newcomers prioritize good communication and empathy, really taking the time to listen to what clients want.

Lastly, I can’t emphasize enough the importance of continuous learning. The beauty industry is always changing, so staying updated on trends and techniques is vital. I make it a point to attend workshops and follow industry leaders. For those early in their journey, I suggest seeking out every opportunity to learn—whether through classes, mentorship, or online resources. Focusing on these areas can help set a strong foundation for a successful career in this field.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instilling a strong work ethic and the importance of pursuing my passions. From a young age, they emphasized the value of hard work and dedication in achieving my goals. They encouraged me to follow my interests, whether it was in school or extracurricular activities, and supported me through challenges.

Their belief in my abilities gave me the confidence to take risks and strive for excellence, ultimately leading me to pursue my dreams in the beauty industry. I’ve carried their lessons with me, which continue to drive my success and passion for my work today.
