Meet Danny Rose

We were lucky to catch up with Danny Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.

Danny, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I would say my mom. She is the strongest person I know. I’ve always known in the back of my mind the things I’m capable of but she was always there letting me know I should never stop trying to be the best.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hello, I’m Carlos Daniel Acosta Ortega and I go by the name of Danny Rose. I’m a recording Artist/Composer. I was born in Tijuana Baja California MX (January 27, 1998) but at the age of 10 was brought to the United States to start a new life.

Growing up, some of my major music influences consisted of Reggaeton, Pop, Hiphop & Regional Mexicano.

It wasn’t until the age of 18 in 2016, right before finishing High School that I met this other kid making music Kove who I started recording my first tracks with and playing my first live shows.

A couple years went by and in late 2018 I booked my first studio session at Black Wav Studios in El Cajon, CA with producer Tre Castro.

From the beginning we instantly clicked music wise & knew we had something special. Not long after that I met the owner of Blackwav/Engineer Manny Frezko who I get to share the same love & passion for Reggaeton music.

Right away we got to work & the first project we delivered was “Faith” a 7 track EP that consisted of exploring different latin sounds & rhythms. Something completely different from what was being heard in San Diego at the time.

We followed up with projects like “Seguimos Rompiendo” , “NITRO” & the latest one “Mariscos Y Perreo”.

In 2022, I had the opportunity to go on this small tour with Reggaeton Legend Ivy Queen and perform a collaboration track “Kcoin Kcoin” along side Nicaragua’s rising star Marvia V in cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco & Gilroy,CA.

That led me to opening up for another Reggaeton Legend Tito El Bambino in Los Angeles just a couple months later.

Being an independent artist is tough specially when you’re coming from an immigrant background. See, back in 2009 my mom made a tough decision & brought us to San Diego to give us a better life. Growing up,I saw my mom working 2 jobs 6 days a week just to get by. From sleeping at my Tias living room floor to renting 1 single rooms for the 3 of us, we actually never had our room/space. She was a Mom & a Dad all at the same time and made sure we were always good. That’s were I get my strength from & that’s who I work for, so one day I’m able to retire her so she can enjoy her beautiful life.

Hopefully my story can inspire another kid out there who might be in a similar or tougher situation. Don’t be afraid, don’t stop believing & don’t stop creating your art. Everything will get better I promise. There is a lot of immigrant kids out there who are super talented and deserve an opportunity to be heard & to be seen.

Thank you for giving me this platform to tell my story and thank you for the all the support. Can’t wait to show you all what we got in the works, stay tuned.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Hard work.
Determination.
Don’t lose focus of where you want to be.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Letting go of things I can’t control. Not being afraid to restart. To try new things
