Meet Dr. Amaka Ugbome

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Amaka Ugbome a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Amaka, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from the power of nature and self-love. Omalicha naturals philosophy emphasizes using clean, natural ingredients to restore and nourish your hair and skin. This approach encourages a deeper connection to your natural self, empowering resilience through holistic care and self-acceptance. By embracing the natural beauty within, you cultivate resilience not only in your hair and skin but also in your overall well-being .

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At Omalicha Naturals, we focus on creating clean, cruelty-free hair, skin, and body care products that nourish and celebrate natural beauty. What excites me most is formulating products specifically for deeper skin tones using botanical extracts and plant-based ingredients. Our journey began out of a love for natural hair care, and we’ve grown to offer solutions that promote overall well-being. We’re constantly expanding our product line, like our new hydrating shampoos and leave-in creams, to help people embrace their natural beauty safely and effectively.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three key qualities that impacted my journey were resilience, creativity, and a passion for learning. Resilience helped me push through challenges, especially in formulating natural products. Creativity allowed me to innovate and stand out in a crowded market. Lastly, a passion for continuous learning enabled me to keep up with evolving beauty standards and research. For those early in their journey, I recommend cultivating resilience by embracing failure, fostering creativity through experimentation, and staying curious to constantly grow and improve.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
One challenge we are currently facing at Omalicha Naturals is balancing growth while maintaining the quality and integrity of our products. As demand increases, ensuring that every product meets our high standards, remains cruelty-free, and uses natural ingredients can be a complex process. Additionally, scaling up operations without compromising our core values is an ongoing focus. Balancing expansion with ethical sourcing and sustainability is something we continuously work on, as we aim to stay true to our mission of clean beauty.
