Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Princess Walker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Princess , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in a profound desire for a better life, shaped by my experiences growing up with a single immigrant father. He faced tremendous challenges, navigating a new culture and language while juggling multiple jobs to provide me with the best quality of life and education possible. Although he worked tirelessly, it often meant I rarely saw him, and I had to learn to raise myself. Unfortunately, this led to me being placed in foster care at a young age.
For my father, adapting to new circumstances was part of our reality. We always navigated the limitations of our backgrounds, coming from a third-world country with scarce opportunities. When I was taken from everything I knew, school became my refuge. I immersed myself in my studies, viewing education as my pathway to a better future.
As a first-generation immigrant, neither of my parents had the opportunity to attend college, which only fueled my determination. I made it my mission to excel academically, fully aware of the odds stacked against me. Witnessing the barriers my family faced instilled in me a resolve to be an agent of change—not just in my own life, but in the lives of others I encountered.
Every step I take is driven by the desire to break cycles and create opportunities where none seem to exist. My father’s sacrifices and my journey through adversity have shaped my work ethic, motivating me to strive for excellence and uplift those around me.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
By day, I’m a healthcare professional, and by night, I embrace my multifaceted role as a lifestyle blogger, creator, writer, and podcaster. I’m thrilled to announce the upcoming launch of my podcast, Munah Musing, which I view as my passion project. Though it hasn’t officially launched yet, it feels like my baby–an endeavor inspired by the encouragement I’ve received about my ability to uplift and inspire others.
Munah Musing is a space where we will explore journeys of self-discovery, faith, and vulnerability. I’m excited about the healing power this new venture holds and the connections it will foster with my audience. Join me as we embark on this transformative journey together!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Resilience: Life has thrown its share of challenges my way, but developing resilience helped me navigate those tough times. It taught me to bounce back from setbacks and to view obstacles as opportunities for growth. For those early in their journey, I recommend embracing failures as learning experiences. Keep a journal to reflect on your experiences and emotions; this can help you build a resilient mindset over time.
2. Adaptability: My journey has required me to adjust to new environments and situations, especially as an immigrant. Being open to change has allowed me to seize opportunities that I might have otherwise overlooked. To cultivate adaptability, seek out new experiences and perspectives. Volunteer for projects outside your comfort zone, or engage with people from different backgrounds to broaden your understanding.
3. My faith is a cornerstone of my journey and been my constant source of strength and guidance. I find refuge in God, and His commitment and promises propel me to seek Him and trust in the path He has laid out for my life. This trust provides me with strength and reassurance, guiding me through challenges and inspiring me to pursue my goals with confidence. For anyone early in their journey, I encourage you to cultivate a relationship with your faith, whatever that looks like for you. Lean into it during difficult times, and let it be a source of hope and direction as you navigate your path.
For those starting their journey, remember that growth takes time. Be patient with yourself, stay curious, and continually seek to learn and improve. Each step you take will build a stronger foundation for your future endeavors.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m excited about the possibility of collaborating with a wide range of people and brands, both big and small. I believe that even those within my own tribe and community have profound insights to share with my audience. If I could dream big, some of the individuals I hope to interview on my podcast include Elizabeth Gilbert, Dr. Anita Phillips, Danielle Bayard Jackson, Jackie Hill, Meghan Ashley, Jackie Aina, Jenee, Oprah, Pastor Steven C. from Union Church, Steven Furtick, Mame Adjei, JorneywithKris, StylebyKemi, Jerry Flowers, and James Clear, among many others. The diverse perspectives and experiences they bring would be invaluable to my listeners!
