We recently connected with Kim Kleeman and have shared our conversation below.
Kim, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Generally, in my life, people have seen me walk into a room, light up and call. out, “Hiya Sunshine” My mom’s friends called me that (teachers did too) and even in my work life, I’d come walking into a networking event and hear the same callout and see a friendly face smiling back at me.
My preference is to look at the bright side of things. I’ve encountered some bad times growing up and in my adult life, but resilience and tenacity, are needed to overcome those moments of adversity by adjusting your mindset and moving into a place of abundance.
Now, as a business coach, I teach alot about this and help others work to reframe their situation, look at the bright side, and think about the silver linings in their life
And when it’s my turn and a difficult time plaques the current season of life I am in, I have some real tools I use to help me keep my mindset and how I show up to others during tough times. My passion planner, women’s retreats a few times a year, and mindset meetups are designed to help others with that as well. I love to write or journal and love the app Fabulous to help me stay accountable and inspired. I surround my self with my friends and sisterhood to make sure I am seen and supported and can ask for help. Hopefully I have shared some ideas others might want to try.
Being optimistic is a choice some days vs. an initial response to a situation but taking the time to process and decide how to proceed, gives the time to also reset the mindset to the right place. But then again, I also believe people can change, no matter the age so I think my optimism is part of my core being. And I like that about me.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

If that wasn’t enough, I am CEO of Simon Bros Bakery Labs, a commercial bakery in Chicago, my family’s business which I have taken over in the past 2 years. So I am truly experiencing all the same things as the clients I coach.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Communication, Community and Connections are the three skills I personally have honed over the years and have helped me greatly. Learning how to have difficult conversations is key to a successful path in this life. Building community and making connections is part of my daily work. Those who master these skills have no problem drumming up new business and jobs.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
I love meeting CEO’s, trusted advisors and business leaders. Most of my work is focused around founders and business leaders who are looking to uplevel their path and to live the life you love.
