We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Petrie Willink. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Petrie below.
Hi Petrie, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
When I was a young lad, my father would commute into the city to work at a big bank (Morgan Stanley). To get there on time he would have to wake up at 5am every morning and wouldn’t return until 7 or 8 in the evenings. Then after dinner, instead of relaxing he went to work fixing the many issues with our house. He’d install insulation, fix the plumbing or mend the leaky roof. I saw how tirelessly he worked, how selfless he was for my mum and my siblings. I would think to myself, how can I ever work as hard as my hero – my father.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When COVID hit, instead of panicking and shutting down, I doubled down on my work. I wrote a low budget sci/fi, thriller script and partnered with a producer. Together and we build a team and used the extra COVID time and money to make KRISPR. We released it in 2023, now it’s making money and collecting licensing deals in foreign territories.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Optimism, discipline, and surrender. There is only so much that I can control, I do my work and then trust and expect the universe to do it’s work – we are co-creators of our realities.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I have about a dozen screenplays for feature films and episodic TV across many genres. I’m looking for studio and network producers to partner with for my next project.
