Meet Courtney Larvadain

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Courtney Larvadain. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Courtney below.

Hi Courtney, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

I was reflecting on this just today. Ironically, I overcame imposter syndrome when I embraced the idea of being a lifelong learner. Instead of feeling like I didn’t belong or fearing that I might be ‘found out,’ I shifted my mindset. I stopped seeing my gaps in knowledge as weaknesses and started viewing them as opportunities. Now, I feel proud of what I’ve already achieved and excited to learn from others and expand my expertise. It’s this mindset of continuous growth that helps me step into new spaces with confidence.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Courtney Larvadain, the co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of Regeily Skin Care, a brand designed to provide structured, neck-down skincare solutions for busy women. I met my co-founder, Christian Hawkins, during my third pregnancy when I was focused on taking care of my body. I decided to get prenatal massages, and after just a few sessions with Christian, we were talking about entrepreneurship and our shared passion for skincare. By our third appointment, we were already discussing her idea of creating a skincare line. Over lunch, we shook hands, and Regeily was born the very next week!

Christian’s background as an Army veteran and licensed esthetician gives her a unique perspective on skincare. Having experienced the toll that harsh environments took on her skin during her deployment in Afghanistan, she became passionate about creating effective body care products for the ‘other 97%’ of the skin that most traditional skincare brands overlook.

After 3 dedicated years of R&D and brand building, we’ve launched our Essentials Collection, a complete body care regimen that combats common skin concerns like transepidermal moisture loss and cellular regeneration. We’re especially proud to have broken even in most months of our first year and to have recently won second place in the Makeup In NY Beauty Tank competition. Additionally, we’ve gotten onto shelves at spas and boutiques in our key markets – Detroit, LA, and Miami.

What excites us most is the upcoming launch of our trial/travel-sized line—a direct result of listening to customer feedback. It’s been a journey filled with challenges, from supply chain disruptions to funding gaps, but we’ve learned to pivot, get scrappy, and stay creative. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished so far and eager for what’s to come as we continue to grow Regeily into a household name.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three key qualities and skills have shaped my journey and contributed to my success. First, owning a social media company for over 10 years taught me the ins and outs of entrepreneurship, business management, and leveraging social media for business growth. These skills are invaluable, and I recommend that anyone starting out should immerse themselves in learning how to run a business holistically, from managing finances to building a brand presence online. Start small, and don’t shy away from diving into the details—everything from setting goals to understanding customer behavior.

Second, humility has been a vital part of my growth. Working alongside a business partner who is also the CEO requires trust and the ability to collaborate selflessly. Humility also plays a huge role in selling direct-to-consumer; you need to listen closely to customers and be willing to make adjustments based on their feedback. My advice is to develop strong listening skills and learn to value your team’s contributions. Approach every interaction with openness and a readiness to learn.

Lastly, public speaking has been essential, especially in environments like pitch competitions and vendor shows. Being comfortable and confident when talking about your business is crucial. If you’re just starting out, practice is key. Take every opportunity to speak in front of others—whether it’s small group settings or formal pitches—because it helps build confidence over time. The more you practice, the more authentic and impactful your message will become.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

One book that played a pivotal role in my development is The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. One of the most impactful lessons for me was the concept of getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Whether it’s taking risks in business or pushing past personal limitations, this mindset shift has allowed me to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth rather than things to fear. It’s helped me move past imposter syndrome and push through tough decisions with more confidence.

Another valuable takeaway was the idea of scaling back personal commitments and distractions. By focusing on what truly matters—both in business and in life—I’ve been able to streamline my efforts and make room for what’s most important. Ferriss also highlights the power of fitness, which I’ve found to be true in my own life. Maintaining physical health fuels mental clarity and productivity, so I prioritize it as part of my daily routine.

Finally, one of the most liberating ideas in the book was ‘work smarter, not harder.’ By farming out tasks and delegating where possible, I’ve learned to maximize my time and energy. This has been a game-changer in both my businesses. It’s about efficiency, but also trusting others to handle tasks so you can focus on what you do best.
