Meet Brandon Yousko

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandon Yousko. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Brandon with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My strong work ethic comes from a combination of observing positive role models in my life such as my old boss Charles Kennedy, co-worker Mandy Tice, best friend Thomas Graham and Rachel, where I learned the importance of responsibility, punctuality, and going the extra mile to achieve quality results. I also actively sought out opportunities to develop my skills and take initiative in challenging situations, which further reinforced my commitment to delivering high-quality work and reasonable price. From someone who has battled mental illness and substance addiction I’ve reformed and rebuilt myself to be the best boss, worker and father I can be.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

It all started when I purchased my first car unfortunately it wasn’t the best car and a mechanic charged me a lot of money to fix it and barely got it running I wanted to learn about cars myself which is then when I enrolled in UTI for automotive technology and later went back for Automotive collision and repair. I was set up with a job right out of school at the shop I now own and run and worked there for a solid 5 years before going off to explore other ventures ended up being a store manager for a company that ran my mental health into the ground I started relying on substances to keep me going and recover from my long stressful days. I ended up crashing and burning very hard and quit that job where I then dealt with a lot of personal issues and couldn’t recover my mental health fully and couldn’t stop substance abuse I ended up reconnecting with my old boss who was looking to retire and I ended up going to rehab and counseling and rebuilding myself to take over the shop which I ended up purchasing and revamping with a new name Hot Rot Auto LLC was born and I dedicated my time to building and rebuilding the impossible my shop isn’t just some quick stop shop we take projects and rebuild your dream cars somewhere along the way I met a woman who showed me that following your dreams is the most important thing you can do and now I’m very happy to call her the mother of my daughter it’s been a struggle but I’ve learned nothing worth while is easy to come by you gotta climb the mountain no matter how steep it is to reach the beautiful sight. Right now my personal focus is to settle down like to get married before I get to old and can’t dance at my wedding. Professional we have many new changes from adding the installation of star light headliner to moving to a bigger better location and currently in the talks with setting up a non profit event with the city of Nile’s where all proceeds go to the city and to help addicts with a clean start hopefully we get it all done by the middle of 2025, I’m also gearing up for Las Vegas for the AAPEX awards where I was nominated for shop owner of the year and technician of the year awards also with the recently jump in popularity we have another big “CONCEPT” we are working on we also would like to thank everyone for their support it’s been a crazy year with hopefully more to come.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three skills would be adaptability, customer service, and willingness to learn the automotive industry is always changing you have to stay up on latest trends join groups take polls of your local area find out what the citizens in your local area want that’s what will sell.
Always understand you may be good at one thing doesn’t mean you can’t be shut down to learning new ways you have to be willing to get constructive criticism and feedback. Remember your customers are what drive your business make sure you treat them with respect, understanding and empathy they drive your business give them what they want and need address their concerns you’ll have repeat customer.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Try to tackle one problem at a time and remember this to will pass we have a slogan at the shop that goes clear minds, happy hearts, hard to lose meaning don’t let the things the business throws at you affect you it can be solved and remember what your doing this for and you’ll never lose
