Meet Wilfredo Ramos

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Wilfredo Ramos. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Wilfredo below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Wilfredo with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My strong work ethic stems from overcoming adversity, having grown up without parental support and being raised in group homes. This experience taught me that my success is determined by my own passion and drive. Surrounding myself with equally passionate creatives further motivates me to strive for more. I live by the belief that when you come from less, you must work harder to achieve more, and I remain committed to that principle.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Born in Puerto Rico and raised in group homes, my passion for photography began early. I first discovered this love when my daughter was born, as I took it upon myself to capture and develop photos. Among my friends, I was the one documenting our moments, solidifying my interest in photography from a young age.

At 31, I moved to the Bronx, where I began working behind the scenes with two film teams, handling set setup. Eventually, I branched out on my own and founded Black Wolf Productions with a vision of creating a comprehensive production space. My goal is to own a warehouse where we can build sets for photography and videography, and even design clothing on the spot—creating a one-stop shop for all things creative.

I aim to differentiate myself from other photographers and videographers through innovation and creativity. Another key objective of mine is to mentor emerging photographers, teaching them unique approaches to both photography and videography. I’m also passionate about directing films and am currently working on a short film, Fashionista, in collaboration with a close friend.

In the future, I plan to develop a Master Class that brings together fashion designers, directors, and photographers to collaborate on creative projects, from photoshoots to commercials and films, fostering a community focused on producing unique and impactful content.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My advice is to develop a strong sense of discipline and to never give up on what you are most passionate about creatively. Understand that sacrifices are often necessary, but it’s essential to overcome any obstacles. I believe that you should always pursue the field that brings you the most happiness, which is ultimately your true passion.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

GTvisions has played a pivotal role in my development as a videographer, teaching me many valuable skills and insights into the business. As a close friend, we’ve collaborated on numerous projects over time. Additionally, I must recognize my team from the past three years, FGO Kasso and Nea, who have not only contributed to our collaborative work but also brought a strong sense of family into my life. Our production teams, Black Wolf Productions and FGO Productions, are deeply intertwined, allowing for seamless collaboration.

I also want to acknowledge my partner, May, an emerging photographer who produces high-quality work. Together, we organize themed photoshoots. Carol, a remarkable woman I met in February, has become a close collaborator. We work together on promoting her designer sunglasses brand by setting up shoots with models, while also promoting my business.

Lastly, two very close friends, Jiggity and Marlin, have been there for me through personal challenges, providing support when I needed it most. I feel incredibly fortunate to have such amazing people in my life.
