Meet Lauren Richeson

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Richeson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Lauren, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose was one of the biggest challenges in my adult life. I spent many years living in a comfort zone and wasn’t feeling the joy and happiness I longed to feel inside my heart, mind, body, and soul. I knew there was something for me, but I could not figure it out on my own. I was feeling very stuck and lost in the wilderness. I had put myself “in a box,” holding myself in a place of “I’m not worthy of…” or to become anything I dreamed of for my life. On the outside, a flawless public facade masked private despair. I was entirely behind the walls of limiting beliefs, and I knew I needed to break free to find my true purpose and passion for my life.

It wasn’t until I completely surrendered to God, got on my knees, in tears, and cried out, “God, what am I made for? What is my purpose?” After breaking through that wall of emotion, I focused on God’s word within my daily devotional and the signs He would send me through the people I would soon meet. The opportunities started to surface, and I knew that each opportunity that came to light was all God.

My most significant breakthrough was in November 2022, when I decided to invest in myself for once and became a life-coaching client. The internal work I did for myself, my mindset, and my overall well-being was worth all that I had monetarily invested; it truly moved my needle forward to where I am today, and I am forever grateful for that milestone of a life experience.
What I learned and experienced as a woman, wife, mother, and entrepreneur while being a life-coaching client completely changed my life for the better, not only in my relationship with myself but also in my marriage, my relationship with my children, and my confidence as a woman in business.

Throughout my six months of life coaching, I broke free of my limiting beliefs, fears, and doubts, which once kept me from pursuing my dreams. My dream was to become a children’s book author, and I sat on that dream for many years simply because I didn’t feel I was good enough to be an author. Within the last three months of my client-coaching experience, I started to introduce myself as a future children’s book author, which soon turned into “I’m a children’s book author.” After my six-month life-coaching experience, I met my now writing coach, who held me accountable in my writing journey to create, edit, and self-publish my first children’s storybook. A dream come true, a life-long goal to become the best version of me, a woman who broke free from her limiting beliefs and believed in herself and all that God blessed her to be.

I believed wholeheartedly in what coaching built within my journey, and I wanted to give that same feeling of self-worth, confidence, joy, happiness, and self-love to other women and mothers who, too, may ever feel lost or stuck within their own limiting beliefs.

In April 2024, I launched my Made For More Mindset and Writing Coaching business.
My passion and purpose behind mindset growth coaching include helping women break free of their limiting beliefs that once held them back from becoming their next best version of HER by strategizing and up-leveling their mindset and discovering more of their true divine purpose for their lives.

My passion and purpose for being a writing coach blossomed after I achieved my dream of writing my first book. I wanted to give back that same joy and pride for other women to experience, too. I love helping other women create, edit, and self-publish through the writing process while also supporting and promoting their dreams of becoming a children’s book author.

My divine purpose was found within me when I started to believe in myself, have faith in all that I can do for my life, and have God as my partner in my journey.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a wife to my best friend Clay, whom I have been married to for nine years and have spent fourteen years together. I am a mother to the two lights of my world, Christian (8) and Caden (5). I am a sporty woman and one of the most prominent Detroit Sports fans. I enjoy attending and supporting all types of sports with my family and participating in sports. I love vacationing throughout the year and spending quality time during date nights with my husband and family game nights at home.
I love being a part of my son’s school PTA and hold a district position as the Authors In April committee chair representative, a program unique to our school district. I also volunteer on other committees.

In my professional career, I am a Mindset and Writing Coach for women, a self-published Children’s Book Author, a Speaker, and the Community Leader of the Northern Macomb and Oakland area MIB Moms In Business Networking Community of Michigan, an International Networking Group. I am also the Co-Founder of WE Rise, a women’s empowerment community in the Metro Detroit area of Michigan, and a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant for the past nine years.

One of my most significant accomplishments to date would be launching and self-publishing my first children’s storybook, Best Bros. Adventures The Mitten State, on Amazon in October 2023. This story was inspired by my two sons and their love for traveling. The characters CJ and KK go on a road trip in their home state of Michigan to visit Mackinac Island and the Upper Peninsula. The boys learn new facts about their state while having a fantastic family road trip adventure.

What is to come, and what I am excited to launch within my mindset growth coaching program, is the practice of somatics alongside the journey of self-love, the release of self-doubt, building self-compassion, and embracing who you are within a six-month coaching journey. I will continue to work with my clients one-on-one with mindset and writing growth coaching while also planning to create workshops and mini-masterminds within group coaching experiences in 2025.

What is to come, and what I am excited to launch within my writing journey, is the release of my second book in the Best Bros. Adventure series, which will be released late in Fall 2024.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

What helped me stay motivated and inspired throughout my journey was the community I was surrounding myself with and the support within these communities. Along with the community, the environment was another significant factor in how I could keep going forward based on the positivity within the environment I chose to be around and a part of. Surrounding myself with encouraging people willing to support me and my dreams, goals, and aspirations was something I knew was best for my mindset and my overall success in what and where I wanted to be in my life as an entrepreneur. I will also share that my faith in God greatly impacted my journey. As I mentioned earlier, having God as my partner, I went straight to prayer when I needed the best advice on what to do next or to boost my creativity that day. Being disciplined in His word and the path He had created for me guided me through some of the most challenging days I experienced, and then seeing the light of opportunities revealed made my belief and faith even more vital.

My advice for those who may be feeling as if they, too, are living “in a box,” feeling lost in the wilderness, or questioning what to do next in their journey is to pause, breathe, pray, and listen to what God or the Universe is whispering to you to do next. Believe that you are enough and made for more. Create a list of your given gifts and talents, reflect upon that list, and embrace the ones that bring you the most joy and happiness. That is where your next passion and purpose lies.

Take risks, make big moves, even if they’re small, and forge ahead with your lives in every direction that moves you. I’m asking you to be fearless.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

I have recommended the book Atomic Habits by James Clear to many people I know, including my clients. It delivers such impactful nuggets of wisdom that we can hold throughout our lifetime. Throughout my journey, I knew I needed to bust through the wall of some not-so-good habits to move forward. As quoted by James Clear, “The best way to break a bad habit is to make it impractical to do.” That one sentence hit home and made so much sense for my habit-tracking system and strategies I created to break the cycle. Also, “If you want to master a habit, the key is to start with repetition, not perfection. You don’t need to map out every feature of a new habit. You just need to practice it.” Repeating a habit leads to clear physical changes in the brain, which kept me motivated within my mindset and led me to fulfill my goals with the push of the good habits leading the way.

Another book I can reference is The One Thing by Gary Keller, which helped me significantly throughout my journey. The One Thing delivers extraordinary results in every area of life—spiritual, personal, family, and work. Taking one percent action steps daily can move you forward in a way you could never have imagined. Believing in that one percent action will move the needle within your personal and professional goals. Keller mentions the Focusing Question as part of the Success Habit and that it is a way of life. Naturally, I began to ask myself, “What’s the ONE thing I can do such that by doing it, everything else will be easier or unnecessary?” What is the ONE thing I can do today to move myself forward by one percent? This thinking framework was a game-changer for me and single-handedly pushed me to accomplish some big goals during my journey.
