Meet Liana Ratner

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Liana Ratner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Liana, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I’ve developed my confidence and self-esteem through my life experiences, particularly overcoming challenges during my teenage years. At 15, I struggled with an eating disorder, which was a difficult and transformative period in my life. That experience opened my eyes to the importance of self-care and resilience, and it became a turning point for me. Facing and overcoming that challenge helped me grow stronger and more self-assured, shaping me into the confident person I am today.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a 26 year old content creator based in Philadelphia. I frequently travel the East Coast to cities like Washington DC, New York, and Florida. My content is primarily fashion-focused with an emphasis on styling, finding affordable fashion finds, and providing outfit inspiration. I also occasionally explore lifestyle, beauty, and hair care topics.

I love putting outfits together and helping my audience discover stylish options without breaking the bank. Currently, I’m working on a series called ’60 Days of Halloween Costumes’ for 2024, where I offer affordable and creative costume ideas to my followers.

In addition to that, I’m thrilled to have attended New York Fashion Week this season! The shows exceeded my expectations and hope I have the opportunity to come back for next seasons shows. Lastly, I might have a podcast in the works—something I’ve been passionate about starting for a while—so keep an eye out for that!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My advice for those early in their journey is to take everything in as you meet people and grow your audience – it’s all part of the learning process. Remember that consistency is key, even when it’s hard to stay motivated. Keep going, because the beginning is always challenging, but your persistence will pay off in the long run. Also, don’t be afraid to try new things! Experimenting helps you to grow and find your unique voice. Always remember that there’s room for more creators out there; your perspective is valuable, so don’t hold back thinking the space is too crowded. Your audience is waiting for you to share your unique journey and insights.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

For me, when I feel overwhelmed I like to write lists. I learned this from my Mom as she loves sticky notes! I use the notes app in my phone or pen and paper to write down everything that’s making me feel overwhelmed. I also use Google Sheets and my calendar on my phone to help me plan things out so I don’t feel as if I have to remember everything. Another thing I do to stay organized is any time I have a thought or content idea in my head, I quickly jot it down so I don’t forget, and then I circle back to it later and add it to my content calendar for planning. Content batching is also my best friend – I spend the beginning of the week creating a ton of videos, editing them throughout the week, and then posting them. This has helped me immensely as it always prepares me for the following week and also allows for some wiggle room as I tend to travel impromptu. These strategies help me stay organized and manage my workload effectively, reducing the feelings of being overwhelmed!
