Meet Renee Johnson

We were lucky to catch up with Renee Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I think our purpose in life can change over time, and we are successful when we accept that those changes are occurring and are open to readjusting our navigation to accept where we are now. I, for example, was able to be a stay-at-home mom while my children were in school, and raising them during that time was my purpose.

After my children graduated, I struggled to find my bearings and returned heavily to my meditation and yoga practices. Grounding in these practices helped me recalibrate and see where my “new” self was now located. From there, I began training to become an instructor of meditation and yoga, a Nationally Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), and a teacher of various classes and workshops.

Taking that time and finding my current purpose and passion is why I strive to help others overcome their life stressors with meditation and health and wellness coaching so that they, too, can enjoy their lives and live with purpose.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My coaching business is Changed My Life, LLC, and my passion is empowering clients who are dealing with anxiety and stressful, life-changing situations, including a diagnosis of a chronic disease such as diabetes or cancer.

My coaching is about managing stress and anxiety and empowering clients to grow and become more resilient. I guide them to understand how their thoughts and emotions affect their lives and treatment and empower them to take control of their future. Through meditation and coaching, we work together to build their resilience and help them navigate their current health journey, inspiring personal growth and motivation.

I am very excited to announce that I have taken the years of experience I have had working with clients and patients, and I will publish my first book, Embracing the HERO Within: Unleash the Power of Your Mind to Manage and Overcome Stress, Anxiety, and Disease, in October 2024.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The first skill is self-reflection. In self-reflection, we learn to know our emotions and permit ourselves to feel what we feel without needing to change them. Those emotions are there for a reason, and listening can help guide us to where we need to be. Taking the time to meditate and journal can help immensely with this, as can working with a coach who can teach you how to acknowledge your emotions and techniques to process those emotions effectively.

The second skill is creating time for self-care. We all have work or family duties to complete, but we also need to take time for self-care. Self-care can be taking a bath, listening to a podcast, walking the dog in the morning, or building birdhouses. Whatever you do that makes time fly and makes you feel happy afterward, make sure you commit to it. Spending this time on self-care shows you have self-worth and that you are worth your time.

The third skill is learning new things. We often think learning happens only while we are in school, but when we are lifelong learners, we constantly expand our world and minds. Studies have shown that learning new things challenges the brain and helps us age better. Now, who doesn’t want that?

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I am always looking for professional collaborators in my coaching and meditation business, Changed My Life, LLC, especially those in the medical field. I am also open to meeting and collaborating with other professionals who want to learn more about how meditation and coaching can improve their lives or the lives of their employees.

In working in the medical field as a Nationally Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and chronic disease teacher, I deeply understand the challenges associated with chronic diseases. My passion for this work drives me to help patients between doctor visits, aiding them in adhering to medical guidance, and making positive behavioral changes. I have seen how coaching can be beneficial in forming positive connections between patients and their doctors.

If you’d like to connect with me, my number is 480-810-5578, and my website is CMLCoach.com
