We recently connected with Shiloh Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Shiloh, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
The only true answer to this questions is through Jesus. When we are confident in who we are in Him, we get the most incredible source of confidence and self-esteem. I know we were created as a unique individual and no one else on this earth has my personality, interests and vision for a photo. Imposter Syndrome is REAL in this line of work, especially with social media at our fingertips. I find myself getting sucked down the rabbit hole of not believing I’m good enough during months where I feel overwhelmed with our editing queue, but coming back to my knowledge that I’m never alone and I have my own personal set of strengths is so reassuring.
Looking back to when I first started photography to now is also a great reminder of where I came from. I’ve grown in my skills in both communication with couples and artistic style as an individual. It’s so humbling to think of how much I have stretched and learned over the years. Keeping that growth at the forefront of my mind is a must when I’m feeling like a failure and not good enough.
I know that each time I have a new couple in front of my camera lens, it is an absolute honor. I am not guaranteed to have couples book us, but when they do, they are showing a trust and interest in my skillset and that just warms my heart. The fact that I get to document one of the most important days in a couples lives for a living will never get old. Each time a couple reaches out and decides to book is a little boost of confidence, every time they decide to leave a review for us on google is a major self-esteem boost and don’t even get me started when they share how many of the pictures they printed and have hanging in their home.
Jesus has given us hope for a future and a desire to connect with our couples on a deeper level than surface level. With my confidence stemming from my love and acceptance in Him, it’s so much easier to extend that same love to each couple we get to work with.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
We are a husband + wife wedding and elopement photo and video team based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. We love any and all elopements & weddings and can’t hardly believe we get to do this full-time together!! You can always count on us to adventure to a new wedding venue, check out a new National Park, or enjoy the ocean views celebrating your story!
We’re obsessed with celebrating love stories and giving couples the space they need to feel truly seen, understood, and celebrated.
For us, community + connection come before all else. We believe you should be able to express your truest self on your wedding or elopement day and not worry about the opinions and voices of people who don’t have your same vision in mind.
Our goal is to help couples create a space where they can connect and enjoy time spent with those closest to them. While they are soaking up the moment, we’ll document the joy, laughter, happy tears, and everything in-between that encapsulates the love they share with one another.
After years of covering traditional weddings, we decided to branch out and encourage our couples to be true to themselves, no matter what that looks like on your wedding day! We wanted to create a business that allowed weddings to be what we believed they were always meant to be:
A celebration of two individuals making the choice to commit their lives together for the rest of time. Nothing more. Nothing less.
There is no right or wrong way to have a wedding – it could be the two of them in the woods with their dog, it could be at an AirBnb along the ocean with 20 of their favorite family and friends or it could be a celebration at a local venue with 200+ loved ones all there ready to celebrate all night long!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Trust in myself was huge in starting out. I needed to believe that I could actually take a photo that would have an impact on a person down the road. I needed to be excited to deliver their gallery and share the precious moments that I had caught on camera. For so many, a wedding day only happens once. There are no re-dos and trusting in myself that I had the skills to capture all the laugher, love and happy tears is a must.
Learning how to operate a camera felt like an uphill battle but one that was worth conquering. There are so many different brands out there, it’s pretty overwhelming trying to figure out what to shoot on. There is no wrong answer here. Buy something you can afford and make due with that you have. I started out with a basic kit lens and the Canon Rebel Ti series. As my skills grew and my knowledge of how to work a camera grew, I knew it was time to upgrade as the years went on. You don’t need to start out with the most expensive camera on the market or with what everyone else is using – you need to simply just start.
Posing was probably the most daunting task of all when it came to photographing couples and their wedding days. Learning how to get them to act natural with a camera on them as definitely the most challenging part of our work. But again, the more you practice, the easier it becomes. Getting to know the couple before the photoshoot is so so so important. You get to learn if they are a bit more reserved, if they are outgoing, who is the goofier one of the two, etc. By taking the time to learn these tidbits about how they connect with each other, it’ll make the photoshoot so much easier to manage. You’ll get to see if they interact on a more intimate and slow level with each other or if they really just like to belly laugh and be in the moment with each other. No two couples are alike and they all have their own unique relationship that will translate differently at each photo session.
For those that are new to the photography world, Practice. Practice. Practice.
You quite literally will not get better at something if you don’t put in the time and effort to grow. It’s really not much simpler than that.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
When it comes to weddings and elopements, I work with couples who are looking for more than just beautiful photos or videos—they’re seeking a way to capture the authentic emotion of their day. My ideal client isn’t just about the aesthetic (though, of course, that’s part of it); they value storytelling and want their love to be conveyed in a way that truly represents who they are.
I love working with couples who have a deep emotional connection and want that to shine through every frame. Whether they’re planning an intimate elopement in the mountains or a big wedding surrounded by family and friends, my goal is to create something unique to them—something that they’ll treasure for years to come.
My clients are also modern and digitally savvy. Many of them have found me through social media platforms like Instagram or YouTube, and they’re excited to share their journey online. They appreciate a professional online presence and trust that I’ll not only capture their special moments but also help showcase them in a way that feels authentic and true to their personalities.
When I create multimedia content for weddings, I pour my energy into every detail—from color correction and audio enhancements to editing in a way that heightens the emotions of the day. I love working with clients who understand the value of high-quality visuals and sound design. For them, it’s about more than just a wedding video or album—it’s about reliving the feelings, the laughter, the tears, and every meaningful glance they shared.
Above all, my clients are couples who value communication and connection. They want to work with someone who understands them, who listens to their story, and who can translate that story into something visually stunning. Whether it’s through email campaigns, social media interactions, or face-to-face conversations, I aim to make them feel supported every step of the way.
At the end of the day, I’m looking to work with couples who are ready to create something magical—something that’s not just a memory of their wedding day, but a piece of art that tells the story of their love.
