We were lucky to catch up with Denise Brilliant recently and have shared our conversation below.
Denise, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience stems from a deep commitment to living a life driven by passion. In both business and personal pursuits, I’ve learned that when you follow what you love with authenticity, setbacks become stepping stones. Mentorship from trailblazers like Sara Blakely and Richard Branson has fueled my entrepreneurial spirit and shown me the value of pushing past limits. Each challenge I’ve faced has led me to discover new pathways to success by embracing creativity and remaining true to my values. For me, resilience is not just about overcoming obstacles—it’s about finding joy in the process of growth and inspiring others to do the same.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My entrepreneurial journey spans multiple ventures, all focused on empowering personal and professional growth. Brilliant Lifestyle is a brand dedicated to elevating everyday life—helping individuals live with style, purpose, and creativity. Through ProVizn, a vision board process I created, people can transform their dreams into reality. I’m also launching Flight School, a program designed to guide aspiring entrepreneurs through the complexities of starting their own companies, offering practical tools and mentorship. For small to mid-size companies, BrilliantBox serves as a marketing resource, while at The Hatch Works, we specialize in scaling investment-backed startups with strategic branding. The synergy across these ventures excites me most, as they empower growth on every level.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Resilience:
Resilience was critical throughout my journey. Every entrepreneur faces obstacles, but resilience is what allows you to persevere and turn challenges into stepping stones. One example is navigating setbacks in business, such as market shifts or unexpected financial challenges. The key is maintaining focus and learning from each experience. For those early in their journey, I recommend building resilience through mentorship and finding a community of like-minded individuals who can support you during tough times.
2. Vision:
Having a clear vision is vital for success. I developed ProVizn to help myself and others stay focused on long-term goals by breaking them into actionable steps. A strong vision allows you to stay grounded and motivated, even when faced with distractions or doubts. My advice for beginners is to create a vision board or a strategic plan that not only outlines your big-picture dreams but also includes the smaller, actionable steps to keep you moving forward. Clarity in your vision is what will guide your decisions and fuel your progress.
3. Adaptability:
In today’s fast-changing business landscape, adaptability is non-negotiable. My ventures, from BrilliantBox to The Hatch Works, have thrived because of the willingness to pivot when necessary and embrace change. Whether it’s shifting market demands or new technology, being flexible and open to evolving your strategies is key to staying relevant and successful. I encourage early-stage entrepreneurs to consistently learn and innovate—never be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new. Adaptability will help you remain competitive in any industry.
For those just starting out, the best advice I can give is to focus on building these three qualities. Learn from every experience, create a roadmap for your vision, and always be ready to adapt to whatever comes your way. These skills will not only guide you through the early days but will be foundational to your long-term success.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m always open to partnerships and collaborations with like-minded individuals and organizations that are driven by purpose and a desire to make a positive impact—whether in personal empowerment, entrepreneurship, or business growth.
