We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Savanna Steinhoff. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Savanna below.
Hi Savanna, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose in joy.
Discovering I do well when I enjoy what I’m doing is a simple ideology many know, but few live by.
I have always tried to fill my time with activities and people I love—spending hours in recreational sports and afterschool programs to finding jobs I look forward to.
I’ve always understood there are certain things in life we have to do, so why not find joy within that obligation?
I enjoy human connection. Teamwork, community, and storytelling are elements I require in a job. I didn’t realize how important these components were in my line of work until I started working jobs where I was missing these joys.
Performance allows me to share stories, work with other creatives, and display my work to the community. Being a tour guide, for instance, empowers me to share my spunky creativity by telling ghost stories, telling a joke or two while recounting the history that surrounds me and my community. I am honored to share this joy.
Modeling highlights my strengths in nonverbal communication & being present. A picture is worth a thousand words. I strive to see what I can convey in a single image. What thoughts can I provoke? What story can I tell? Who’s story can I relate to? I come across so much joy in discovery within this work. I find myself playing the most in this field of art. What joy can we capture and all of the beauties in between those moments? Life is beautiful, let’s capture it.
Education permits me to practice human connection at a very basic level. Working with K-12 students, I am presented with everyday challenges with communication, conflict resolution, emotional education, and empathy. Students keep me on my toes and keep me present in the moment; I can appreciate that in the education profession.
My purpose is to share my joy with the world.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a performer! I act, model, sing, dance, and create!

I am a signed model with Urban Talent.

I played a supporting role in an upcoming indie horror film called Field of Screams!
Playing the role of Lisa was so much fun; I enjoyed every aspect of this production, from Pre production to Post this team was phenomenal. Alix Moad & Evan Runkle were amazing directors who worked seamlessly problem solving to make everything work in the time we had. The entire cast was electric to work with, an incredibly funny and talented team. I am happy to say I made new lifelong friends with who I have been lucky enough to collaborate with other films since then.
Film! Film! Film!
I am so excited about anything film! I’ve been ecstatic to be a personal assistant, run the clapboard, use my art and crafts skills through SFX makeup or basic costuming! I am always happy to help with any film. I have discovered there is always help needed; just need to ask & get out there!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
When I reflect on my creative journey, I can recognize three qualities that have strongly benefitted me throughout the years.
It comes down to Networking, Keep Moving Forward, and Knowing your Worth.
When it comes to networking, being as friendly and neighborly is always a safe approach. You want to know the people in your industry and where they stand in the community. It’s important to go to similar events your craft is a part of. These are your peers, the people who are doing the same as you; these people understand your passion because it is their passion as well! Going to local shows, red carpets, recitals, and open house events is crucial to meeting creatives you can work with or for!
Your creative community will support you if you support them!
Keep Moving Forward follows the same idea as never giving up, but more practical. Sometimes, some things are worth letting go of, but you should always keep moving forward! You can learn from every experience and take that knowledge to use on bigger projects in the future. Keep moving forward also means keep looking for work and making work! Don’t wait for someone to find you… go out and make your own projects. It doesn’t need to be a big budget; it can be a passion project with a handful of peers/ other creatives wanting to make something. Taking a little bit of time out of your day to work on your craft is important to make sure you are always making progress. It can be as simple as setting aside 30 minutes a day to work on your craft. A little bit of time every day adds up to an idea & project. To progress in your craft (even when you are busy in life), you have to Keep Moving Forward!
Knowing your Worth is important to use your time wisely as a creative. Especially starting out, we are always told to take any job because it can lead to more opportunities. I understand the urgency, but caution young creatives to it because you don’t want to find yourself stuck in a project you hate. If you don’t enjoy the work, why are you there? When I find myself looking at a job opportunity, I measure it with the 3 P’s. People, Place, & Pay. I ask myself, am I doing work I believe in with people I like? Am I in a place where I will grow or meet new creatives? Does it pay enough to keep my interest? If I do not enjoy the project, I ask myself these 3 P’s; I need at least 2 of the P’s to be a yes to make it worth my time. If I have 1 P as a yes and 2 P’s as a no, it’s not worth my time. Find work you enjoy and know your worth!
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for collaborators!
Anyone passionate, curious, playful, and flexible is my kind of creative!
I would love to work with more photographers in any aspect for brands or creative shoots! I love spooky, high fashion, ethereal, and woodland vibes for modeling opportunities. Let’s tell a story through stills or video!
Film has me head over heels! I would be thrilled to act & perform in something, but I am very hands on behind the scenes! As an AD or PA, I enjoy problem solving and making movies a reality! I have quite the eye for movement and blocking!
Theatre! I am trained in theatre and I can do just about any job in there EXCEPT TECH! I can direct, SM, AD or House Manage! I’m great with all theatre & love the art!
As a singer and dancer, I would love to connect with more artists to play and create. I enjoy bouncing ideas back and forth with new people, let’s link up!
