Meet Danielle Kloberdanz

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Danielle Kloberdanz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Danielle, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose by realizing that what I thought I had always wanted, wasn’t as fulfilling as I thought it would be.

My biggest dream was to have a large family and to be a stay-at-home mom. That dream became a reality. I have a supportive husband and four healthy children.

However, being a mom was so much harder than I ever thought it would be. I felt overwhelmed and disillusioned. And, after years of telling myself to just be grateful with the wonderful life I had, I sensed that something was missing in my life.

I went on a journey inward to find out what was missing. Ultimately, it led me to a life-changing spiritual awakening which lasted several days. During those days I was shown with amazing clarity how to look at life and motherhood in a healing way. I was in a state of non-judgment and had released my limited beliefs.

Connected to a higher state of consciousness, I realized that following a path of what truly inspires us, is our path of purpose. Our purpose is never an end goal, by the way. It’s a way of living. This doesn’t mean that we ditch our responsibilities, but rather that we find ways to incorporate more inspiration into our lives.

My inspiration led me to publish my first book, Inner Compass Mom: finding peace and purpose in the midst of motherhood, in which I detail my journey and my spiritual awakening. I also love helping others through life coaching and hosting small workshops.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

While I was writing my book, Inner Compass Mom, I decided to start my own business. I named it Inner Compass Living. The purpose of my business is to connect with other people, especially moms, through various ways.

Because of that approach, I now run a book club focused on spirituality and personal growth. I also host workshops and I offer one-on-one life coaching. And, I published a journal to encourage people to use the tool of writing to help them on their journey inward.

Besides that, I offer a weekly newsletter, Wednesday Wisdom, in which I share tips, inspiration, and tools for personal development and support.

You can find the link to sign up to this newsletter on my website at www.innercompassliving.com. You can also order a signed copy of my book through my website.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Having raised four children (and still raising high schoolers currently), I know a lot about the challenges of parenting. I’m also connected to many moms, so I know what they are facing also. One of the issues is finding out who we are beyond our role as a mom. Many of us moms have poured our hearts and souls into raising our children, often putting ourselves last. Along the way, we might’ve forgotten who we are. Uncovering other identities beyond being a parent is not an easy path, but I think a necessary one if we want to live a more fulfilled life. I love helping people on their path of uncovering who they are beyond “Mom”.

I believe in continuously educating ourselves. That’s why I have read many books on psychology, spirituality, and self development. Through better understanding, we can better problem solve. I’ll never stop learning.

As an entrepreneur, I found it very helpful to have an accountability partner. I highly recommend this to anyone who is an entrepreneur also. It will push you to do more as well as give each other confidence with trying new ideas.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

I can’t say that it’s just been one person who has helped me. I think it’s important to surround ourselves with people who are supportive of us. My husband, Jim, has been very supportive of what I wanted to pursue. I also have wonderful friends who have inspired and supported me over the many years.

And, along the way of starting my business, I’ve found other entrepreneurs who face similar obstacles. It’s wonderful to be able to support each other.
