We recently connected with Stacey & Danielle Smith and have shared our conversation below.
Stacey & Danielle, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline comes from years of watching my parents be absolute beasts when it comes to working and taking care of everyday things. Even in times of sickness, injuries, hard times they have always prevailed. It has inspired me to try harder and do my best in life.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We hand craft quality bath and body products and candles using organic ingredients, excluding a multitude of toxins and excluding a wide variety of allergens. Keeping ethically sourced products in mind, we create all of our products in small batches to ensure quality. The result is high quality products that are suitable for people with sensitive skin as well as the average person.
Many of the solutions for sensitive skin and for those wanting more natural solutions offer limited options and are very basic in design. We believe everyone should have the same quality options regardless of what their ingredient preference or needs are.
Our number of return customers are continuing to grow. We frequently hear the appreciation regarding the options, the solutions and the relief that customers have that they have found an affordable solution to their sensitive skin issues. We equally hear from return customers that they like our products because they are quality and healthy,
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important things I have learned starting this business is : 1 – There is always room to learn. Every day we are reading, studying, and testing formulations in order to better help our customers. 2 – When going to events be sure to engage with people walking by. Say things like good day, or hello. I have had a large amount of people come in and learn about our business just because I was friendly. 3- Sales are sales. There are good days, there are not so good days, but keep your head up, and have a positive outlook and positive things will come. My biggest advice is do NOT quit just because it is tough.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
We have made it our business process to take into account customer feedback and requests. We make an effort to understand the comments, the questions and work with the individual to reach a solution. This allows us to know the what to add to our product line, what to modify in our recipes, and what our customers focus is regarding the various products.
