Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Oechler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Amanda, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding My Purpose: A Journey of Healing and Transformation
From the moment I could understand the world, I knew I was meant to help others. As a little girl, I dreamt of being a doctor or a nurse, always feeling a pull to care for people, to make them feel safe, seen, and supported. This desire led me to nursing, a calling that allowed me to serve others in their most vulnerable moments. But even as I worked on the cardiac floor and in the emergency room, I felt there was more to healing than treating physical wounds and giving pills. Something deeper was missing.
The Turning Point
My journey truly began during one of the most painful chapters of my life—losing my mother at the age of 17. Watching her transition to the spirit world shattered me in ways I couldn’t fully comprehend. Overwhelmed and too young to process my grief, I did what many do: I buried it. I threw myself into survival mode, hoping that by pushing through the pain, I could move forward. But this unhealed wound left me disconnected from myself and my sense of purpose. I developed an eating disorder and felt lost, carrying an invisible weight of depression and emptiness.
Nine years later, something profound shifted. I visited a medium and connected with my mother on the other side. That experience was like reclaiming a part of myself that had been lost the day she passed. It opened my eyes to a reality beyond the physical, a dimension I hadn’t truly grasped before. It allowed me to trust in the unseen forces around us. Shortly after that, I experienced my first session of energy work. For the first time, I began to release the deep layers of emotions and trauma I had been holding onto for so long. I felt lighter, more connected to who I truly was, and began to see life through a completely new lens.
That session wasn’t just a personal breakthrough—it was a revelation. It showed me that healing doesn’t have to be a solitary, painful journey. I experienced firsthand the power of energy work—not just to heal my physical body but to restore my emotional and spiritual well-being. It was the catalyst for a new chapter in my life, one where I would dive deeply into energy work and holistic wellness. This awakening sparked a passion within me that would shape the rest of my journey.
A Blend of Science and Spirit
As a nurse, I was always drawn to the scientific aspects of healing—understanding how the body works, the intricacies of medicine, and the importance of clinical care. But as I continued on my own healing journey, I realized that true healing involves so much more than what science alone can offer. The body, mind, and spirit are deeply interconnected, and only by addressing all aspects can we find true, lasting balance.
This realization inspired me to dive deeper into holistic practices and energy work. I trained in modalities like Reiki, Shamanism, Reflexology, and Cranial Sacral Therapy, all of which opened my eyes to the immense potential of energy work. Combining these practices with my nursing background allowed me to offer my clients a bridge between the physical and energetic realms, creating an integrative approach that goes far beyond conventional medicine. It was no longer about treating symptoms; it was about helping people heal from within.
This blend of science and energy work became the foundation for Inner Soul Wellbeing, the practice I founded to guide others through their healing journeys. I began to understand that my true purpose was to help people find not just physical relief but emotional and spiritual freedom. By working with the body’s energy field, I could address the deeper imbalances that often go unnoticed in conventional medicine. I believe this is the missing piece in our current healthcare system.
Aligning with My Purpose
As I continued on my own healing journey, I realized that my purpose wasn’t to heal others—it was to empower them to heal themselves. I discovered that the key to transformation lies in recognizing the power we each hold within. Energy work helped me rediscover parts of myself I had forgotten, and I knew I wanted to help others uncover their own inner strength, peace, and resilience.
Whether I’m working with someone to improve their overall well-being, face disordered eating, navigate end-of-life transitions, or simply find their way when feeling lost, my mission is the same: to create a safe, compassionate space where they can explore their own potential for healing and growth. I’m not just offering a service—I’m offering them the chance to reconnect with the deepest parts of themselves.
Holistic nursing and energy work are not just practices for me—they are reflections of my own healing journey. They are the tools that helped me reclaim my sense of purpose, and I believe they can help others do the same.
Trusting the Journey
What I’ve learned on this path is that purpose doesn’t always come with a clear roadmap, and it evolves as we grow. Looking back, I see how every experience—the loss, the pain, the confusion—was guiding me toward my purpose. My childhood desire to help others was always there, but it took years of inner work and transformation to truly understand how I was meant to serve.
Healing, like life, isn’t linear. It’s a step-by-step process—sometimes slow, sometimes overwhelming—but always worth it. Often, it’s the darkest moments that lead us to the most profound growth. My path to finding purpose wasn’t a straight line; it was a journey filled with detours, lessons, and moments of clarity that ultimately brought me here—to a place where I can guide others on their own healing paths.
Today, I am honored to help others transform their lives, just as I transformed mine. Healing is a deeply personal journey, but no one has to walk it alone. My purpose is to walk alongside those seeking peace, healing, and reconnection with their soul– hence the name Inner Soul Wellbeing. To me, living well means embracing life’s full spectrum—its joys and challenges—while staying connected to the soul’s true essence. And dying well means transitioning with peace, grace, and fulfillment, knowing you’ve walked your unique path. My mission is simple yet powerful—to help others live well and die well
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
One of the most exciting aspects of my work is witnessing the profound transformations that occur when we address not just physical symptoms, but also the emotional and energetic layers beneath them. At Inner Soul Wellbeing, I help clients release trapped emotions, heal unresolved traumas, and shift limiting subconscious beliefs, allowing for deeper and more comprehensive healing. My goal is to create a space where people can reconnect with themselves and their innate capacity for self-healing.
At Inner Soul Wellbeing, we offer a wide range of services to support healing and personal transformation, including:
Holistic Wellbeing: Integrating energy medicine and holistic nursing to balance the mind, body, and spirit.
Disordered Eating and Body Image Healing: Helping individuals release the emotional patterns underlying eating disorders and body image challenges.
End-of-Life Transition: Providing comfort and energy work to support individuals and their families during the sacred process of transitioning back to spirit.
Sacred Ceremonies: Hosting group ceremonies that honor life’s important transitions and seasonal changes.
This year has been particularly exciting, as Inner Soul Wellbeing opened a new physical location in the Pittsburgh area. This space allows us to connect more deeply with our local community, offering in-person sessions, workshops, and events. For those outside the Pittsburgh area, we continue to provide virtual services, ensuring that we can serve our distant clients with the same level of care and support.
Through these services and events, my mission is to help people embrace healing, trust the unseen, and align with their highest potential. Whether you’re facing physical health concerns, emotional challenges, or are on a journey of personal growth, Inner Soul Wellbeing is here to support your unique path to healing.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I would say the three most impactful qualities that shaped my journey were resilience, intuition, and a commitment to self-awareness. Each of these played a vital role in guiding me through my personal and professional path, especially when facing challenges or moments of uncertainty.
Resilience: The ability to keep going, even when things are difficult, has been crucial. My own healing journey, particularly after losing my mother, required a deep well of resilience. For those starting out, my advice is to embrace the process—healing and growth aren’t always linear, but resilience will carry you through the ups and downs. Cultivate self-compassion and trust that every step forward, no matter how small, is progress.
Intuition: Learning to trust my inner guidance has been transformative, especially in energy work and holistic healing. Intuition is like a compass that points you toward what feels right, even if it’s not always logical or conventional. I encourage those early in their journey to practice listening to their inner voice—whether it’s through meditation, journaling, or simply taking quiet moments to reflect. The more you listen, the more you’ll trust your own knowing.
Self-Awareness: A deep awareness of my thoughts, emotions, and patterns has allowed me to grow in both my personal and professional life. Being in tune with yourself helps you make aligned decisions and recognize areas for healing or improvement. For those just starting out, I recommend focusing on self-reflection and personal growth—whether through journaling, therapy, or spiritual practices. The more you understand yourself, the more empowered you’ll be to navigate your journey with clarity and intention.
For those just starting, focus on nurturing these qualities—embrace resilience as a tool for progress, hone your intuition as a guide, and commit to self-awareness to deepen your understanding of yourself. Each of these will serve you well on your journey and help you connect more deeply with yourself and those you serve.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, my first instinct is to pause and breathe. Deep, intentional breathing has a way of bringing me back to the present moment, helping me release the tension that builds up when things feel too much. I often take a few slow, deep breaths, focusing on the air entering and leaving my body. This simple practice calms my nervous system and allows me to reset.
Another strategy I use is grounding. Whether it’s stepping outside to connect with nature, feeling my feet on the earth, or simply visualizing roots extending from my body into the ground, grounding helps me feel centered and supported. It’s a powerful reminder that, even amidst chaos, there’s always a stable foundation beneath me.
Meditation is another tool I turn to when things get overwhelming. By taking time to quiet my mind and connect inward, I create space for clarity to emerge. Even a short meditation—just a few minutes—can make a huge difference in shifting my perspective and calming my emotions.
Finally, I find that writing it out can be incredibly helpful. I sit down with a journal and let my thoughts and emotions flow onto the page. There’s something about seeing everything in front of me that helps untangle what’s going on in my mind. Writing provides both release and insight, often leading me to solutions or new perspectives I hadn’t considered.
My advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed is to start with small, simple practices like deep breathing or grounding, then explore meditation or journaling as ways to process what you’re feeling. The key is to remember that it’s okay to slow down, take a step back, and allow yourself to find balance again.
