Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda Calderon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Amanda , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I believe work ethic is largely inherited, may be born internally throughout life’s experiences, or sometimes can be learned by those not gifted it. I am grateful to have inherited that hunger, as well as be taught it. I had a father that worked harder than anyone I’ve met in my life and he expected the same from me. I learned as a kid that no matter how hard anyone around you works, you should always be working harder. Today, I am incredibly grateful for the high expectations set by my Dad early in life. Call it a blessing or a curse, I have the same restless soul he did.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My husband, John Calderon, and I have been passionately driven to make a difference in residential construction on the Front Range in Colorado for some time now. Working as custom home builders, architectural designers, and renovators, we see a huge divide between the quality of work being done in residential and commercial construction, and the high cost for labor and materials. Simply put, we constantly see people being charged premium prices for poor quality work. John and I have made it our mission to be fair in pricing, while focusing on providing quality work for peoples homes. Approaching our industry with a focus on ethics has helped us do very well with the business, Home Constructors, that we only established a short time ago.
In fact, our experiences over the last few years inspired us to make our next move in business before 2025. My largest architectural design yet features a 500+ unit apartment complex, with extensive amenities, luxury designs, and will offer more environmentally sustainable features than any similar complex in our State, and perhaps, the country. The high-rise building is expected to be over 755,000 square feet, with integrated smart home technology, contemporary comforts and nearby conveniences for the busy lifestyles we all lead today.
Putting emphasis on improving people’s quality of life through living at our complex, making great effort to keep the planet healthy by helping us all “do our part”, and offering people a better, more convenient way of life, could really change how we see the place we call home. Going green on a large scale has been a very exciting frontier for our business and we are eager to be part of sustainable living solutions. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Between lung cancer and recovery from a coma several years ago, I have faced monumental challenges and discovered fortitude within myself that I never knew I had. It is not often that a person is faced with fighting for their life in their 20’s and I couldn’t be more appreciative that I had such a profound experience and survived it. The three qualities that have carried me through it all: a fervent spirit, a courageous heart, and a commitment to integrity. In order for growth, empowerment, and positive change to take place, it is essential that a person commits to a code of honor where continual growth can take place.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Collaborating with like-minded people on our current and future projects will be instrumental in the success of our mission. Making huge changes in industries that the world relies on is no small task. We need a team of educated, dedicated, and experienced individuals to join us in revolutionizing sustainable living and commit to bringing back quality in home development. Contractors, collaborators, creators, engineers, and designers, are all welcome to reach out to Home Constructors if they find themselves interested in the same mission and fundamentals that we are.
