Meet One Mic

We recently connected with One Mic and have shared our conversation below.

One, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from knowing that have a family to provide for. Knowing that I want to achieve greatness and nothing but myself can get in the way of that. The unwavering knowingness that I will not back down from anything or anyone. Where does this knowingness come from? A little place called “The Boogie Down Bronx”.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Peace Family! I’m One Mic, an artist born and raised in The Bronx, NY and my work is all about storytelling through mixed media—whether it’s vibrant paintings or sculptures. My art dives into themes of love, resilience, and spirituality, aiming to connect with people on a deeper level. What makes my work unique is how it challenges viewers to feel something real, something painful that transcends what meets the eyes. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach, especially with my move to Troy, NY to further my studies as an artist, where I’ll be diving into new creative opportunities. I’m also excited to have recently met some new collectors who have done wonders in helping me grow the One Mic community. A community that would be honored to have you!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

This one is easy. The quality that was most impactful in my journey was knowledge of self. The more I learned about the beauty of being Black, the powers of melanin and the history of Africans here in America the stronger I became. So I encourage all those who may find theme-selves on a similar path to learn your history, learn your DNA, learn any and everything that went into making you, you. Most of all, be proud of it.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

This books is like a bible for me and it’s “The Synchronicity Key” by David Wilcock. A few nuggets would be – the universe is always talking to you but it’s up to you to listen. That bitch we call Karma, yea, she’s real. Lastly, life is a movie don’t get caught up in the highlights or the lowlights just do your best to make a fucking classic!
